Defoamer DL: Antifoam Treatment For Water Based Emulsions

Defoamer DL is a silicone-free defoaming agent that can be added directly to circulating wire drawing emulsions and synthetic solutions to control foaming. It is recommended to add an initial dosage of 0.05% and can be increased up to 0.3% if needed. Defoamer DL is economical, flexible for all aqueous systems, and will not affect the adhesion of enamels or coatings to wires unlike silicone-based defoamers.

DEFOAMER DL

Antifoam treatment for water based emulsions.

Description

A semi-gelled silicone-free defoaming agent, readily dispersible in water and water-

based emulsions.

Application

Recommended for use with wire drawing emulsions and synthetic solutions to control
foaming when necessary, by addition directly to the circulating emulsion.

Defoamer DL being a silicone-free product will not affect the adhesion of enamels or
other coatings to the finished wire.

Where foaming is persistent it may be necessary to make further periodic additions.

Freshly prepared emulsions have a higher foaming tendency, which usually subsides
as the period of use increases.

Dosage

Recommended initial dosage 0.05% (i.e. 1 in 2000). Can be used up to a total of 0.3%
in severe conditions, but should be added in small increments.

Features

 Economical – Highly effective at low concentration.

 Flexible – Suitable for all aqueous lubricant cooling systems.
 Silicone-free – Does not interfere with adhesive of enamels and coatings.

Storage

AVOID EXTREMES OF TEMPERATURE

Store away from direct sunlight or frost.
Drums should be stored on their side to prevent ingress of water.
