I. LESSON OBJECTIVES:

At the end of a sixty-minute period, students will be able to:


A. Describes the nature and background of the folk dance;
B. Executes the skills involve in the folk dance; and
C. Enumerate the basic Dance Steps of Tinikling.

II. SUBJECT MATTER:

C. Materials: projector and speaker (AVP), markers, manila papers, cartolina, visual aids

III. PROCEDURE:

Group the class into 4 with 8-10 members each group. Present some pictures of different
Philippine folk dances, tell the student to identify the Philippine folk dance that shown in the
picture, and the teacher ask them if they can identify the place where the dance originated or
at least identify if it is in luzon, visayas or Mindanao. The group with the most correct answer
wins the game.

D. Lesson Proper (Folk Dance)

1. The teacher will briefly discuss about the folk dance, type of folk dance, general classification
of folk dance. And some Philippine folk dance. Then afterwards ask the students this
following question:
1. From the videos shown, what are the movements performed by the
dancers in the different folk dances?
2. How are these dances performed?
3. What do you think are the benefits that can be gained from these dances?

2. Have the learner watch the videos of the dance step of tinikling. In the video, it explains and
performs the proper way execution of the dance step. Then let the students perform it
afterwards. These are the following step in tinikling:
1. sway balance (12 measure) 8. Holding hands while jumping
2. Stand by (4 measure) (8 measures) (8 measure with turn)
3. side, front, up (3 measure) 9. Rotating jump (12 measure)
4. basic jump ( 16 measure)
5. waltz ( 8 measure)
6. stand by ( 4 measure)
7. criss cross step (12 measure)
E. Group Activity
(This time, the students, with the use of their groupings, They will perform the tinikling folk
dance. Their performance will be rated to the rubric given for the assessment.)

Enumerate the basic Dance Steps of Tinikling.

VI. ASSIGNMENT:

Directions: Research about festival dances. Give at least 8 names of festival dances then
identify the nature and origin of the festival dance. Write it in a whole sheet of paper.
