Chain Slings

One Point Lesson


Do:
 Do an inspection on the chain sling and
check that it is safe for use.
 Check the table to see if the safe working load
of the chain sling is correct.
 Check that you are using the correct chain sling
according to the weight that you are going to lift.
 Check that the chain sling has the correct chain grade
and markings.
 Check that the chain is not twisted when lifting.
 Check that the chain sling has the correct color code
as indicated on the quarterly inspection board.

Don’t:
 Don’t use a chain sling if it has stretched/bent or worn
links, oblongs or other end fittings. (See Fig 1 & Fig 2.)
 Don’t use a chain sling if the hooks are bent
or stretched (See Fig 3.)
 Don’t use a chain sling if there are any mechanical modifications.
 Don’t use a chain sling if it has no safe working load. Fig 3. Fig 4.
 Don’t use chain slings that is marked with a
red color code.(See Fig 4.)

Steel Wire Rope
One Point Lesson
Do:
 Do an inspection on the steel wire rope and
check that it is safe for use.
 Check the table to see if the safe working load
of the steel wire rope is correct.
 Check that you are using the correct steel wire rope
according to the weight that you are going to lift.
 Check that the steel wire rope has the correct color code
as indicated on the quarterly inspection board.

 Don’t use a steel wire rope if it has any sever kinks or
broken wires. (See Fig 1 & Fig 2.)
 Don’t use a steel wire rope if the feral shows any sign of
damage or deformation. (See Fig 3.)
 Don’t use a steel wire rope if the eye shows signs of damage
or if the core is exposed. (See Fig 4 & Fig 5.)
 Don’t use a steel wire rope if it has no safe working load.
 Don’t use steel wire rope that is marked with a Fig 4. Fig 5. Fig 6.

Endless Round Slings


Do:
 Do an inspection on the endless round sling and
check that it is safe for use.
 Check the table to see if the safe working load
of the endless round sling is correct.
 Check that you are using the correct endless round sling
according to the weight that you are going to lift.
 Check that the endless round sling has the
original manufacturer tag attached.
 Check that the endless round sling has the correct color code
as indicated on the quarterly inspection board.

Don’t:
 Don’t use an endless round sling if it shows any signs
of damage .
 Don’t use an endless round sling if the yarns
are expose. (See Fig 1 & Fig 2.)
 Don’t use an endless round sling if there are any cuts in the
sling. (See Fig 3.)
 Don’t use an endless round sling if it has no safe working load. Fig 3. Fig 4.
 Don’t use an endless round sling that is marked with a
red color code.(See Fig 4.)
 Red Color Code = UNSAFE FOR USE =

Flat Sling
Do:
 Do an inspection on the flat webbing sling and
check that it is safe for use.
 Check the table to see if the safe working load
of the flat webbing sling is correct.
 Check that you are using the correct flat webbing sling
according to the weight that you are going to lift.
 Check that the flat webbing sling has the
original manufacturer tag attached.
 Check that the flat webbing sling has the correct color code
as indicated on the quarterly inspection board.

Don’t: Fig 1. Fig 2.

 Don’t use a flat webbing sling if it shows any signs


of damage.
 Don’t use a flat webbing sling if there are any cuts in the
sling. (See Fig 1, Fig 2 & Fig 3.)
 Don’t use a flat webbing sling if it has no safe working load.
 Don’t use flat webbing sling that is marked with a
red color code.(See Fig 4.) Fig 3. Fig 4.

Eye Bolts & Eye Nuts

Do:
 Do an inspection on the eye bolts or eye nuts and
check that there is no damage on them.
 Check that you are using the correct eye bolts or eye nuts
according to the weight that you are going to lift.
 Check that the eye bolts or eye nuts has the correct markings Fig 1. Fig 2.

 Don’t use a pallet jack if the forks are bent or shows
