The document describes the objectives, theory, equipment, and layout of a measurement and instrumentation lab. It lists 7 pieces of key lab equipment: oscilloscope, DC power supply, function generator, computer, DC server control trainer, PLC trainer extensions, and flux load photometer. It also describes 3 main types of lab layouts: product or line layout, process or functional layout, and fixed position layout. The conclusion states that after this lab, students will be able to determine quantities using devices and understand different lab layouts.

LAB NO: 01

Objective:-
To familiarization with the measurement and instrumentation lab equipments and
also study the types of layout and draw the layout of measurement and instrumentation lab.

Theory:-
Measurement and instrumentation is a engineering term in which person deals with the
determination or estimation of the ratio of quantities and compare these physical quantities with
the real objects the devices which are used to calculate or to find these measurable quantities are
known as instrumentation.

Lab Equipment:-
The lab contains several equipments those are as followed:-

I. Oscilloscope:-
It is a laboratory equipment which is mostly used for displaying and
analyzing the waveform of the signals and addition to these this device also draw graph.

II. DC Power Supply:-

It is the power supply of electricity load to the required field and in
this electric load is in the form of direct current.

III. Function Generator:-

It is laboratory equipment used for the production of different
patterns of voltage of variety of amplitude and frequencies.

IV. Computer:-
The device that is used for multifunction and also used for processing and
storing data in the form of binary data.

V. DC Server Control Trainer:-

The domain controller is the main server of the computer
by which other computer or servers are controlled.

VI. PLC Trainer Extensions:-

A programmable logic controller is a type of computer system
that control specialized programming software for creating workable logic.

VII. Flux Load Photometer:-

A photometer is an engineering instrument used to determine
the various aspects of intensity of light it is used for to differentiate light from two
sources.
Layout:-
In laboratory research center plan is frequently a matter of individual inclination
despite the fact that thought of the work design and of the outstanding burden will decide the
offices required and, somewhat, the layout of those facilities.

Layout Types:-
There are 3 main types of layout those are as followed:

Product or Line Layout:

If all the processing equipment and machines are arranged according
to the sequence of operations of the product, the layout is called product type of layout. In this
type of layout, only one product of one type of products is produced in an operating area.

Process or Functional Layout:

In this type of layout, the machines and not arranged according
to the sequence of operations but are arranged according to the nature or type of the operations.
This layout is commonly suitable for non repetitive jobs. The process layout is particularly useful
where low volume of production is needed.
Fixed Position Layout:-

In this layout, often associated with the assembly of products that are
too large or fragile to effectively move to a location for completion, the transformed resources
remain stationary while the transforming resources (staff, supplies, and equipment, etc.) are
brought to the site where the product will be assembled.

Conclusion:-

After this lab, students can able to determine the quantities using different devices
and also gained the concepts of layout and its types and eligible to apply in practical life.
