I.PURPOSE:

To provide an overview of infection prevention and control procedures being practiced


at Midhnab General Hospital.

II.POLICY :

Orientation in infection control practices at the time of entry into the hospital and
continuous education is mandatory for all employees.

III. OBJECTIVES :
After the orientation program the employee will have a working knowledge about ;
 Basic Infection Control Program with departmental mission, vision and values
 The importance of implementing Standard Precautions and the
transmission based Precautions.
 Basic Infection Control Skills
 Blood borne pathogens and how to prevent occupational exposure.
 Notification of Communicable disease
 Classification and disposal of hospital waste.
 Cleaning and disinfection of patients care items
 Prevention of hospital acquired infection and implementation of bundle.
 Protocol to be followed in case occupational exposure to infectious agents such
as; tuberculosis, varicella etc.
 Employee health program
 Infection Control policies, procedures and guidelines for concerned department
 Enhance Patient family education through clinical staff or patient family
educators

IV. DOCUMENTATION OF ATTENDANCE:

 Records of attendance of employees orientation programs will be maintained by


the Infection Control Service
 Certificates of attendance will also be given, original certificate will given to the
employee and a copy will be kept at the Infection Control record.
