The document provides design parameters for an overhead door motor control circuit including: - The motor runs on 208V 3-phase power and is wired for low-voltage operation. - Pushbuttons control the up/down direction and overtravel limit switches sense when the door reaches its endpoints. - The control circuit uses a 120V transformer and auxiliary contacts protect the motor and starter.

Question 1

DESIGN AN OVERHEAD DOOR MOTOR CONTROL CIRCUIT

Design a circuit to operate an overhead door based on the design parameters

given.
Available three-phase voltage is 208 VAC

Drive motor is wired for low voltage operation. 
Overload protection is provided.
Motor is capable of running in both directions (up/down) through use of pushbuttons.
Control circuit components are designed for 120 VAC operation.
Control circuit should be isolated by a control transformer.

Momentarily pressing one pushbutton (PB1) will cause the motor to run in
the forward direction (up) until the stop pushbutton is pressed or the door
reaches the end of travel in that direction

Momentarily pressing another pushbutton (PB2) will cause the motor to run
in the reverse direction (down) until the stop pushbutton is pressed or the
door reaches its end of travel in that direction

The stop pushbutton must be pressed before you can change the direction of
door travel if the end of travel has not been reached

Limit switches should be used to sense the overtravel of the door in either
direction (up or down)

If an overtravel occurs in either direction, you will only be able to operate
the motor in the opposite direction

Auxiliary contact and mechanical interlocking should be used to protect the
motor and starter.
Draw the complete circuit diagram in the blank page. The diagram should include all
three subsections - power diagram, transformer diagram and control diagram.

Question 2
Inspect the given complete circuit diagram and answer the questions. (No wiring
needed)
Momentarily press PB1 and observe the status.
Indicator Lamps Status ________________________________(On/Off)
Motor Status _________________________________________(On/Off)

Move the float device on the float switch to the top of the float shaft.
This will simulate that the liquid has reached the desired level.
Observe the status of the indicator lamps and the motor.
Indicator Lamps Status ________________________________(On/Off)
Motor Status _________________________________________(On/Off)

Release the float device on the float switch and again observe the indicator
lamps and the motor.
Indicator Lamps Status ________________________________(On/Off)
Motor Status _________________________________________(On/Off)

Momentarily press PB3 and observe the status of the indicator lamps and
the motor.
Indicator Lamps Status ________________________________(On/Off)
Motor Status _________________________________________(On/Off)
