impedance
If protective impedance: d.c. current not exceeding N
2 mA, and
a.c. peak value not exceeding 0.7 mA N
- for peak values over 42.4 V up to and including N
450 V, capacitance not exceeding 0,1 µF
- for peak values over 450 V up to and including N
15 kV, discharge not exceeding 45 µC
- for peak values over 15kV, the energy in the N
discharge not exceeding 350 mJ
8.1.5 Live parts protected at least by basic insulation before installation or assembly: -
- built-in appliances P
- fixed appliances N
- appliances delivered in separate units N
8.2 Class II appliances and constructions constructed so N
that there is adequate protection against accidental
contact with basic insulation and metal parts
separated from live parts by basic insulation only
Only possible to touch parts separated from live N
parts by double or reinforced insulation
8.101 Parts of spark-ignition circuit shall not be P
accessible if the limits in table 101 are exceeded,
unless they are piezoelectric igniters.

13 LEAKAGE CURRENT AND ELECTRIC STRENGTH AT OPERATING -

TEMPERATURE
For appliances which are assembled on site, the N
leakage current and electrical strength tests on the
complete appliance need not be performed if the
components and sub-assemblies have been
separately tested and the interconnection is carried
out in accordance with the manufacturers
Instructions . (IEC 60335-2-102)

accessible surfaces shall occur. Breakdown to
conductive parts which are connected to earth is
allowed if this does not result in a critical failure
of circuits with safety related functions.

19.2 up to Not applicable N
19.19.10
19.11.2 "short circuit" and "mechanical break-down" of N
relay contacts in protective electronic circuits.
The failure modes need not to be considered if
components comply with IEC 60730-2-5 3rd ed.
including A1. (EN 60335-2-102)
19.11.3 Tests are not repeated for protective electronic N
circuits complying with relevant control standards
such as listed in annex BB. (EN 60335-2-102)
19.11.4 The tests of 19.11.4.1 to 19.11.4.7 are also
carried out under normal operation, the
appliance being supplied at rated voltage.
(EN 60335-2-102)
19.13 During the tests of 19.11.4, the appliance shall N
either continue to operate normally according to
manufacturers specifications, or reach a safe
situation for risks concerning the fuel (shut-down
or lock-out).
After the tests of 19.11.4 on gas and oil-burning
appliances, the appliance shall have reached a
lockout condition as required by the specific
appliance standard (volatile or non-volatile lock-
out see annex AA), unless it continues to
operate normally. (EN 60335-2-102)

22.101 Parts of spark-ignition circuits shall be positioned P

or secured against loosening so that contact
between the circuit and other live parts is
prevented. (EN 60335-2-102)
22.102 If compliance with this standard can be affected N
by the polarity of the supply in the event of an
earth fault, the appliance shall incorporate a
polarity-detection device that results in shut-
down or prevents the appliance from operating if
the polarity is reversed.
This requirement does not apply to appliances N
incorporating a control having all-pole
disconnection, to appliances intended to be
permanently connected to fixed wiring, or to
appliances having a supply cord fitted with a
polarized plug. (EN 60335-2-102)
24.1. NOTE 101 A list if standards applicable to N
controls and safety devices is given in annex BB.
(EN 60335-2-102)
24.1.1 Relays and optocouplers which ensure electrical N
isolation between live parts and accessible metal
parts shall comply with EN 60255-1-00, EN
60255-33, EN 116000-1 or EN 120012.
(EN 60335-2-102)
24.101 Appliance outlets and plug connectors of N
interconnection cords shall not be
interchangeable if this could result in a hazard.
27.1 One pole of a spark-ignition circuit supplied P
through an ignition transformer complying with
IEC 61558-2-3 shall be earthed.
(EN 60335-2-102)
29.1 The requirement is not applicable to spark- P
ignition circuits complying with the values
specified in 8.101. For other spark-ignition
circuits, the requirement is not applicable to the
air gap between the electrodes (EN 60335-2-102)
30.2 The test of 30.2.2 is applicable to manually P
operated spark-ignition circuits. The test of
30.2.3 is applicable to other circuits.
