Model 211/219
In-car temperature sensor (B10/4)
Location: The in-car temperature sensor (B10/4) is
located on the right side of the steering column
(219 up to 09/2006).
Task: It registers the temperature of the air in the
lower part of the vehicle interior.
Malfunction: Exact regulation of the interior
temperature is not possible.

Overhead control panel control module (N70)/in-car temperature sensor (N70b1)

Location: The in-car temperature sensor (N70b1) is


located in the overhead control panel control
module (N70).
Task: It measures the temperature of the air in the
upper part of the vehicle interior.
Malfunction: Exact regulation of the interior
temperature is not possible.

Evaporator temperature sensor (B10/6)


Location: The evaporator temperature sensor
(B10/6) is located on the left on the HVAC housing
in the air flow downstream of the evaporator.
Task: It registers the temperature of the air flow
emerging from the evaporator.
Malfunction: The A/C compressor (A9) is shut off.

Engine coolant temperature sensor (B11/4)


Location: The engine coolant temperature sensor
(B11/4) is located towards the rear on the left
cylinder head in vehicles with engine M 272, for
example.
Task: It registers the temperature of the engine
coolant and transmits it to the ME-SFI control
module (N3/10) or to the CDI control module
(N3/9).
Malfunction: The A/C compressor (A9) may be
shut off under certain conditions. The engine and
air conditioning electric suction fan with integrated
control (M4/7) is fully actuated.

Outside temperature display temperature sensor (B14)


Location: The outside temperature display temper-
ature sensor (B14) is located at the front on the left
in the bumper.
Task: It registers the outside air temperature.
Malfunction: Exact regulation of the interior
temperature is not possible.

4-zone ACC multifunction sensor (B31) (code 581)


Location: The 4-zone ACC multifunction sensor
(B31) is located at the rear in the engine compart-
ment on the left.
Task: It registers the dew point temperature and
the concentration of the pollutants carbon
monoxide and nitrogen oxide in the air flow.
Malfunction: The HVAC system operates with
maximum dehumidifying effect. Automatic air recir-
culation shutoff is not possible.

Model 211/219
Air humidity sensor (B31/2) (code 580)
Location: The air humidity sensor (B31/2) is
located on the HVAC housing in the air flow
upstream of the fresh air/air recirculation flap.
Task: It registers the dew point temperature of the
incoming air.
Malfunction: The HVAC system operates with
maximum dehumidifying effect.

Refrigerant pressure sensor (B12), refrigerant pressure and temperature sensor (B12/2)

Location: The refrigerant pressure sensor (B12) or


the refrigerant pressure and temperature sensor
(B12/2) is located on the left in the engine
compartment on the refrigerant line.
The refrigerant pressure and temperature sensor
(B12/2) is installed up to 06/2005. As of 06/2005,
the refrigerant pressure sensor (B12) is installed
instead.
Task: It registers the refrigerant pressure in the
high pressure circuit of the air conditioning system.
Malfunction: The A/C compressor (A9) is shut off.

4-zone ACC sun sensor (4 in total) (B32/2) (code 581)


Location: The 4-zone ACC sun sensor (4 in total)
(B32/2) is located in the center of the air inlet in the
engine hood.
Task: It is a 4-zone sensor that determines the
intensity and the incidence angle of the solar radia-
tion on the vehicle in four separate areas (left front,
right front, left rear and right rear).
Malfunction: Automatic adjustment of the interior
climate control via solar intensity and incidence
angle is not possible.
