1.What is Science?
According to English Collins Dictionary, Science is the study of the nature and
behavior of natural things and the knowledge that we obtain about them. It is
the systematic study of the nature and behavior of the material
and physical universe, based on observation, experiment, and measurement, and
the formulation of laws to describe these facts in general terms.
2.What are the branches of Science?
Physics - Study of behavior and properties of matter.
Psychology - Study of the mind and behavior.
Taxonomy - Classification of plants and animals.
Zoology - The study of animals.
Seismology - Study of the movement of the Earth and Earthquakes.
Radiology - Branch of medicine dealing with the application of radiant energy.
Geology - Study of the science of the Earth, its structure and history.
Chemistry - The science of matter and its interactions with energy and itself.
Botany - Scientific study of the life of plant
Biology- Study of living organisms.
3.How do you relate science and technology to our society?
The use of science and technology develops a society by improving our medical systems, having
infrastructures that will be convenient for the citizens to use, an better educational system and it
enhances business industry by upgrading the goods or products and it also creates new
understanding about the current issues in the society and how to find a resolution for it.
4.Scientific Method
A.) As stated by Sciencebuddies.org, (https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science-fair-
projects/science-fair/steps-of-the-scientific-method)
The first step in scientific method is:
1.) Ask Question - It starts when you ask a question about something that you observe: How,
What, When, Who, Which, Why, or Where?
2.) Do Background Research - Rather than starting from scratch in putting together a plan for
answering your question, you want to be a savvy scientist using library and Internet research to
help you find the best way to do things and ensure that you don't repeat mistakes from the past.
3.)Construct a Hypothesis - A hypothesis is an educated guess about how things work. It is an
attempt to answer your question with an explanation that can be tested.
4.)Test your hypothesis by doing an experiment - experiment tests whether your prediction is
accurate and thus your hypothesis is supported or not.
5.)Analyze your data and draw a conclusion - Once your experiment is complete, you collect
your measurements and analyze them to see if they support your hypothesis or not.
6.) Communicate your results - complete your science fair project you will communicate your
results to others in a final report and/or a display board
B.)
