1 The current 39th Chief Justice is Altamas Kabir,was sworn on 29 september 2012 and he,
who will hold the office till 18th July 2013.As the chief judge, the Chief Justice is responsible
for the allocation of cases and appointment of constitutional benches which deal with important
matters of law.

2 Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, Liberian president and Nobel laureate, will get this year's Indira
Gandhi Prize for Peace, Disarmament and Development for being an "inspiration" to women and
ensuring return of peace and democracy in her country, An international jury, chaired by Prime
Minister Manmohan Singh, selected Sirleaf for the award, set up by the Indira Gandhi Memorial
Trust.
