(Filling up of temporary position of Consultant in R&D project)

The procedure for applying for the position is mentioned at Point No. xxi of ‘General conditions’. The
date and time for holding physical/virtual interviews will be intimated on our website/ intimated
through e-mail in due course. The details of the position are as follows:-

2. Project Title Design and development of fiber optic gas sensor and system for
petroleum industry (Phase-1)
3. Duration of Consultancy 1 (One year) or till the date of completion of the project whichever is
earlier.
4. Job Requirements i. Identifying critical components/parameters for design and
development of fiber optic based gas sensor and system for
petroleum industry.
ii. Evaluation of design concept with electronics module,
optoelectronics hardware and associated software for
implementation of Tunable Diode Laser Absorption Spectroscopy
(TDLAS) based fiber optic multi gas sensor and system in petroleum
industry and review the sensors performance.
iii. To help the Project Team in evolving suitable strategy for achieving
project objectives.
5. Job Location CSIR-Central Scientific Instruments Organisation, Chandigarh
6. Essential Educational i. ME/M.Tech in Engineering Physics/Optoelectronics /Electronics of
Qualifications & Experience a recognized University/institute or equivalent from a recognised
university.
ii. Minimum 25 years of post-qualification experience in research,
design and development of Optoelectronics systems.
iii. Former Scientist of National Laboratories in the Grade Pay of Rs.
10,000 (as per 6CPC) drawn on the day of superannuation or
Professors from the recognized universities/NITs/IITs/IISC with
proven record in the domain of Optoelectronics, Fiber Optics,
Photonics Instrumentation for implementation of Optoelectronics
system.
7. Desirable Experience Expertise in the domain of fiber optic based gas sensor &
optoelectronics system with publications and patent filing.
8. Maximum Age Not more than 65 Years

9. Remuneration & Entitlements Rs. 75,000/- per month (Consolidated)
General conditions:
i. These positions are open only to Indian Nationals.
ii. The cut-off date for determining the qualification, age and experience of a candidate
will be the last date for receipt of applications.
iii. Engagement will be purely on contract/temporary basis.
iv. The period of experience in a discipline/area of work, where prescribed, shall be counted
with effect from the date of acquiring the prescribed minimum educational qualifications for
the post.
v. The decision of CSIR-CSIO in all matters relating to eligibility, acceptance or rejection of
applications, mode of selection and conduct of interview (physical/virtual) will be final and
binding on the candidates and no enquiry or correspondence will be entertained in this
connection from any candidate.
vi. Incomplete application forms and application forms not supported with scanned copies of
certificates of educational qualification, experience certificate, DOB, etc. are liable to be
summarily rejected.
vii. In case a large number of candidates apply for the position, Selection/Screening Committee
will have discretion to shortlist the candidates for interview based on written exam or
percentage of marks or desirable qualification/experience or higher qualification or any other
criteria as deemed fit. Thus, it is necessary that only accurate, full and correct information is
furnished by the applicants. Furnishing of wrong/false information will be a disqualification
and CSIR-CSIO will NOT be responsible for any of the consequences of furnishing such
wrong/false information.
viii. Canvassing in any form and bringing in influence political or otherwise will be treated as
disqualification for the position.
ix. Medical Facilities for self will be provided through CSIR-CSIO Dispensary only to the
extent available as per rules. This will be limited to self only and not for family
members/dependents.
x. Reservation: As regards reservation, if all things are equal, SC/ST/OBC/PH candidates
may be given preference over General candidates so as to ensure their representation.
xi. The result will be displayed on CSIR-CSIO website. In addition, waiting panel will also be
drawn which will be valid for one year and will be operated within stipulated period as and
when required.
xii. The selected candidate is expected to join within fifteen days from the date of receiving offer
of appointment, after completion of pre-appointment formalities like medical examination
and character verification etc.
xiii. In the event of engagement of the Consultant, the Consultant has to execute a Non-
disclosure agreement in the format on Non-judicial paper.
xiv. The selected candidate will have to deposit an amount equivalent to 20% remuneration as a
Security Deposit (Refundable) with CSIR-CSIO, at the time of joining.
xv. No TA will be paid to the candidates for attending the interview (in case of physical
interview).
xvi. No TA/DA will be admissible for joining the post, if selected.
xvii. CSIR-CSIO reserves the right to cancel or withdraw the award in case of any discrepancy
found, in the candidature of the selected candidate at any stage.

xviii. CSIR-CSIO reserves the right not to fill up the position, if it so desires. The number of
vacancies indicated above may vary at the time of actual selection.
xix. The guidelines issued by CSIR Headquarters for the above position shall be applicable as
per CSIR OM No. 6/1/CSIR Guidelines/2019-RPPBDD dated 04.09.2019 and CSIR
Guidelines-2017 (available on www.csir.res.in).
xx. Other terms & conditions will be governed as per guidelines issued by the funding
agency/CSIR for the engagement of above position as amended from time to time.
