Starter Cut Relay PDF

The starter cut relay circuit prevents the engine from starting when the Toyota Vehicle Intrusion Protection (TVIP) system is activated. It does this by having the TVIP ECU control the starter cut relay to prevent the starter from engaging. The inspection procedure checks that the starter cut relay has continuity in the correct configuration and that the TVIP ECU is outputting the proper voltage at the starter cut terminal when the ignition is turned to start. If either check fails, the faulty component should be repaired or replaced.

STARTER CUT RELAY CIRCUIT

CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
When the TVIP system operates, the TVIP ECU controls the starter cut relay so that the relay should not
be turned on and consequently the starter can not crank the engine.
