Activity 3

The document discusses a student's response to a question about whether the Philippines will attain its AmBisyon 2040 goals of a comfortable and secure lifestyle for all citizens even without the impacts of COVID-19. In a multi-paragraph response, the student argues that the goals will not be achieved for several reasons: 1) 25 years is not enough time to significantly reduce poverty and unemployment; 2) the current administration has failed to adequately address these issues after 5 years; and 3) underlying problems like corruption, crime, accidents, and insufficient financial resources will prevent substantial progress unless addressed.

Activity #3 (4th week)

Read the “Realizing the AmBisyon” as issued by the National Economic

Development Authority, then answer the question given below.

Question: Do you think even without the COVID - 19, we will attain the AmBisyon 2040 of the present
administration applying the concept of the important policies stated?

Answer:
NO. I think we will not be able to attain AmBisyon 2040. As stated, in 2040 we will all enjoy
a stable and comfortable lifestyle, secure in the knowledge that we have enough for our daily
needs and unexpected expenses, that we can plan and prepare for our own and our children’s
future. Our family lives together in a place of our own, and we have the freedom to go where we
desire, protected and enabled by a clean, efficient, and fair government. That is the goal. But I
cannot see that happening in 2040. I think 25 years is not enough to lessen the number of poor
people here in our country. It is not enough to make the lives of Filipino people strongly rooted,
secure and comfortable. Seeing how the administration works for the people today, their efforts are
still in vain. Five (5) years has already passed but our country is still suffering from poverty and
unemployment. How else in the next 20 years? Many Filipinos work abroad because the money
they are earning here in the Philippines is not enough to support their families. Because of poverty,
many children cannot go to school to study rather they work at the farm to help their family. That is
why unemployment is rampant in our country. Additional to that, we have politicians who are
corrupt and want the money of the people for themselves. Now, how can Philippines be a
prosperous country after 20 years? How can the people live a comfortable and secure lives if
numerous crimes and accidents happen every single day? How can we attain that goals in 20
years if the administration is still failing to address the concerns of the Filipino people? And also,
the financial budget of our country is not enough to support the million citizens. Yes, the
government has programs to help the poor and needy people but it is not enough considering that
people nowadays depend on the government assistance programs. So even if NEDA applies the
policies stated, I still don’t think that our country will be a prosperous middle class society if the
problems that we have don’t subside.
