Practical Research 2 Reviewer: @writeraldrin

This document provides an overview of quantitative research methods. It defines quantitative research as systematic research that uses numerical data and deductive reasoning. It lists the key characteristics of quantitative research as being reliable and objective, using statistics to generalize findings, reducing problems to a limited number of variables, establishing cause-and-effect relationships, testing theories or hypotheses, and assuming samples are representative of populations. Advantages include allowing measurement and analysis of data to arrive at objective results, reliability through large sample sizes, use of standards, and avoidance of personal bias. Disadvantages include not considering natural settings, requiring large sample sizes and resources, and providing limited detailed narratives.

PRACTICAL RESEARCH 2 REVIEWER

@writeraldrin: eyy hahah this reviewer will serve as uuhh basta reviewer to for practical
research lol based to sa book ha and uhh i guess some are from the internet

- Quantitative Research is a systematic type of research that utilizes numerical

data in order to measure the data given; It also utilizes deductive reasoning
to generate predictions in the real world.

- Qualitative Research is done in a natural setting and uses theoretical lenses.

- One major advantage of Quantitative Research is that it does not require as

much interpretation as Qualitative Research due to its focus on numerical
data.

- CHARACTERISTICS OF QUANTITATIVE RESEARCH:

1. It is reliable and objective

2. It uses statistics to generalize a finding
3. It reduces and restructures a complex problem to a limited number of
variables
4. It looks at the connections between variables & establishes cause and effect
relationships.
5. It tests theories or hypotheses
6. It assumes that the sample is a representative of the population.
7. The subjectivity of its methodology is a secondary concern.
8. It deals with the details of the subject.

- ADVANTAGES OF QUANTITATIVE RESEARCH:

1. It allows the researcher to measure and analyze the data to arrive at an

objective.
2. The result is reliable since the study uses a big sample of the population.
3. Standards are usually used.
4. Personal biases can be avoided.
5. Processes involved are simplified due to the systematic and easy steps.
6. Results can be reduced through statistical statements.

- DISADVANTAGES OF QUANTITATIVE RESEARCH:

1. It does not consider the natural setting where the study is conducted.
2. Having a large study sample required researchers to spend more resources.
3. Results are limited due to the lack of detailed narratives.

- Quantitative research follows strict rules

- Broad and complex topics may not be considered at times
- Test score is an interval measurement
- Interval doesn’t have 0
- Conducting research is more than engaging in the major steps in the
process of research.
- Data Saturation is a qualitative method of analyzation
- Discourse analysis is also a qualitative and interpretive method of analysis.
- EMIC view of reality is a qualitative method in which it requires the
researcher to immerse in a particular community.
- Confidence interval is an interval estimate of an unknown population
parameter.
- Member Checking is a qualitative method in which the researchers ask the
respondents if their answers are correct.
- Quasi- Experiments are fake experiments in quantitative research
- Factor Analysis is a qualitative method
- Contextualization is a qualitative research
- Positivism is a quantitative research, because you believe in numbers.
- Making predictions has something to do with quantitative research
- Generalizability has something to do with quantitative research as well.
- Fieldwork has something to do with fieldwork

- Quantitative Research follows a traditional, positivist scientific method which

refers to a general set of orderly, disciplined and strict rules. It also utilizes
inductive.

- Quantitative Research uses:

- Statistics to generalise a finding
