Big Smelly Bear

SONGS AND RHYMES

I’m in the Mood
I’m in the mood for reading.
Hey, how about you?*2
I’m in the mood for reading,
Reading along with you.
Hey, hey, what do you say?
I’m in the mood for books today.
Hey, hey, what do you say?
I'm in the mood for books.

Oh I can tap my tambourine
Listen to me tap my tambourine
You can tap your tambourine
Listen to you tap your tambourine
I can shake it way up high
I can shake it way down low
I can shake it way up high
And I can shake it way down low

I can drum my tambourine

Listen to me drum my tambourine
You can drum your tambourine
Listen to you drum your tambourine

I can drive my tambourine

Look at me drive my tambourine
You can drive your tambourine
Look at you drive your tambourine
Beep beep

Tickle the Clouds (closing rhyme)

Tickle the clouds!
Tickle your toes!
Turn around and touch your nose!
Reach down low!
And reach up high!
Story time’s over —
Wave goodbye!

ACTIVITIES AND CRAFTS

Paper Plate Tambourine Craft
http://takingcareofmonkeybusiness.com/blog/2015/07/10
/paper-plate-tambourine/
MATERIALS
● 2 Paper plates
● Stapler
● Dried beans or small beads
● Hole puncher
● Yarn or ribbon
● Decorative materials – markers, stickers, paint, pipe
cleaners, whatever you want!
STEPS
1. Cut 10 to 12 pieces of yarn. Each one is about 3
inches long.
2. Put the plates together, bottoms facing out, and
staple them together. Start off with 1 or 2 staples,
just to prevent them from slipping around.
3. Then hole punch all the way around, making sure
you make it through both plates.
4. Take one piece of yarn and string that through both
plates. Give it a double knot.
5. Add a jingle bell for the next hole. Take a piece of
yarn. String it through the bell and then the plates.
Give that a double knot to make sure that the bell is
really safe on there. (Tie a jungle bell to each other
of the holes. Make sure all of the bells jingle freely
and that the ties are secure.)
6. Take turns between each hole. A hole with a bell
and a hole without a bell. (Bell… No… Bell… No…)
7. When one side is done, dump some beans into the
tambourine, and finish the other side.
8. Decorate your tambourine.
