Task:
1. Read and understand the text
2. Create a table of two columns and label each one as Main points, and Minor details
3. Write statements that fall under main points, and write statements that are minor
details
4. Make a summary of the original text
Lucid dreaming often occurs naturally, but it can also be experienced on a regular basis
on a deliberate intent and can be triggered through various methods. The first method is the
Dream Awareness Technique where one must keep a dream journal wherein daily accounts
regarding one’s dreams or feelings and sensations after waking up must be made to train
oneself to remember one’s dreams. The next step in this method involves doing reality checks
where one must train himself/herself to frequently ask the question “Am I dreaming?” to form
a habit that one would carry even his / her dream so that one can easily determine if he / she is
lucid dreaming or not. The third step is known to be Mnemonic Induction to Lucid Dreaming of
MILD which is exemplified in the act of repeating the statement, “I will be aware that I am
dreaming” to oneself as he/she falls asleep until he/she finally loses consciousness. This
statement allows a person to be focused on his/her intention to remember that he/she is
dreaming, thus inducing the state itself.
The second method to induce lucid dreaming is called the Wake Back to Bed Method
where the first step involves knowing when lucid dreams occur which is essentially the time
frame of REM sleep, which commonly occurs 90 minutes after one falls asleep. The next step
entails increasing one’s REM sleep by following the standard sleeping cycle. After this, one must
wake up after 5 hours and stay awake for 30 to 60 minutes. The final step requires going back
to bed while recalling the dream one was having and imagining continuing to dream as one falls
asleep. This method is known to increase the chances of one experiencing lucid dreaming.
SUMMARY
Lucid Dreaming can always happen naturally on a regular basis. It can be done through various
methods like the Dream Awareness technique wherein an individual keeps track of their dreams and
emotions after they wake up to remember their dream and to frequently ask oneself if he or she is
dreaming. Next to this is when one should always remember that everything that is happening is all a
dream. The second method is called the Wake Back to Bed Method which involves knowing that lucid
dreaming happens during REM sleep, 90 minutes after falling asleep while you are still conscious. One
must be able to wake up after 5 hours of sleep and go back to sleep remembering the dream you had.
