Subject: Application for the Selection of CNLU Pro Bono Associates (PBAs)-Reg.

Dear students,

We are happy to share that CNLU has been listed as one of Law Schools associated with the
Pro Bono Club Scheme, Nyaya Bandhu (Pro Bono Legal Services) programme of the
Department of Justice, Ministry of Law and Justice, Government of India.

In furtherance of the same, a CNLU Pro Bono Club has been established. The constitution of
the club is:

a. Ms. Preety Anand, Assistant Professor (Law), CNLU, Patna. (Full-time Faculty In-
charge)
b. Dr. Fr. Peter Ladis F, Assistant Professor (Law), CNLU, Patna. (The Faculty head
of the CNLU Legal Aid Cell)
c. Five student members as the Pro Bono Associates (PBA)

Our aim is to reach out to the unreached in the field of legal aid, supporting the marginalized
and underprivileged by way of providing pro bono legal services. Several means to achieve
this end shall be employed inter alia reaching out to our alumni network to invite them to
volunteer to this noble service, providing legal assistance to the Pro Bono Lawyers, targeting
the beneficiary groups and raising awareness amongst them and organizing legal aid
programmes.
We invite applications for the selection of the PBAs for the Club. Kindly go through the brief
list of role and responsibilities of the PBAs given below. The shortlisted students shall go
through an interview. Final selection would be subject to the performance in the interview. We
reserve the rights to make modification to the process or the pattern.

Role and responsibilities of the PBAs:

a. The PBAs shall render effective pro bono legal assistance in the case assigned. This
shall include research, counselling, drafting, documentation, etc.
b. PBAs shall work under the supervision and guidance of the pro bono advocate assigned
as well as the Faculty In-charge.
c. The PBAs shall file a monthly written report of work and updates with the faculty in
charge.
d. The PBAs shall also be required to make field visits for completion of the work assigned
to him/her. This shall be decided in consultation with the pro bono advocate assigned
as well as the Faculty In-charge.
e. All the expense incurred for the Pro Bono Club activities by the PBAs shall be
compensated by the Club. However, PBAs are encouraged to forego the expenses so
incurred.
f. The PBAs shall be required to attend the monthly meetings of the Club without fail.
