Standards 1. Students will have the necessary knowledge and skills to


establish and maintain physical fitness, participate in physical
activity, and maintain personal health. They will perform basic
motor and manipulative skills. They will attain competency in a
variety of physical activities and proficiency in a few complex
motor and sport activities. Students will design personal
fitness programs to improve cardiovascular endurance,
flexibility, muscular strength, endurance and body
composition.

2. Students will demonstrate responsible personal and social


behavior while engaged in physical activity. They will
understand that physical activity provides the opportunity for
enjoyment, challenge, self-expression, and communication.
Students will be able to identify safety hazards and react
effectively to ensure a safe and positive experience for all
participants.

3. Students will be aware of and able to access opportunities


available to them within their community to engage in physical
activity. They will be informed consumers and be able to
evaluate facilities and programs. Students will also be aware
of some career options in the field of physical education and
sports.

Key Student Learning Cognitive-The students will develop a basic fundamental


knowledge about the game of soccer and all of the skills
Objectives
involved. They will learn the rules, the importance of the
game internationally, strategies, different formations, and
various skills of the game.

Affective-Students will develop social skills including


personal and social responsibility. These skills will be
developed during gameplay and working with partners
and small groups. I will keep track of student
preparation, participation, sportsmanship, and positive
attitudes.

Psychomotor-The students will develop physical skills


that will enhance their soccer skills. The students will
learn dribbling, passing, shooting, goalkeeping, and
defending. The emphasis for the students to improve
their skills while using correct technique and form.

Sequence of Key There are a sequence of skills that the class must
become proficient in before we can start gameplay.
Learning Activities
Some of the most important soccer skills are passing
and dribbling. Other skills we will try out after passing
and dribbling are trapping with your foot, chest, and
body. We will also cover how to complete a proper throw
in and different goalie skills including punting the soccer
ball. The final skill is every students favorite, shooting.

Key Texts to be Used All rubrics used throughout the unit are vital for the
students reading comprehension skills. Also I have a
history of football article for the class. It will help them
understand the history of the game and some of the
basic rules and strategies.

Assessments Skills Assessments-Soccer dribbling and passing skill


cue rubrics

Written Assessments-students will complete


assessments throughout the unit. Some of the written
assessments I will use during the soccer unit are partner
rubrics. There are partner rubrics for passing and
dribbling skills, and also there is a written rubric for
personal and social responsibility. I also will use exit
tickets at the end of class.

Verbal assessments-As a class we break down the last 5


mins of the period with discussion of skills, cues, and
strategies for the game.

Visual Assessments-I will take visual assessments daily


for the students. I am noting if the students are
participating and getting prepared for class.
