Nurse Recruiter
Tucson Medical Center

Tucson, AZ 85712

Dear Nurse Recruiter:

I am writing to express my interest in the Registered Nurse New Graduate position within the Neonatal
Intensive Care Unit (NICU) posted on the Tucson Medical Center (TMC) employment page. I will be
graduating this December 2020 from The University of Arizona College of Nursing with a Bachelor of
Science in Nursing degree and a minor in Family Studies and Human Development. My passion for caring
for infants and toddlers and providing clinical teaching has led me to pursue a career in nursing.
Completion of my Obstetrics rotation at Tucson Medical Center, combined with volunteering in the NICU
at St. Joseph’s Hospital since June 2016, has further enforced my desire of practicing within an NICU
setting. I am well matched for employment at TMC given my hands-on experiences with infants and
toddlers, and my alignment to the TMC philosophy in delivering compassionate, superior care to all. My
abilities to think critically as a RN and to work collaboratively within a team are strengths of mine, and I
look forward to applying my abilities at TMC.

The nursing clinical skills I have gained while at The University of Arizona as well as my skills in
communication, time management, and flexibility have allowed me to establish a firm foundation within
the nursing profession. Through my five-week preceptorship at Tucson Medical Center in the Cardiac
Unit I was able to further build on these skills as I worked with patients who were post myocardial
infarction or had coronary artery bypass graft surgery. During my preceptorship I received what is called
a “Caught in the Act” award which is given to employees that stated I demonstrated Tucson Medical
Center’s values of compassion, dedication, and integrity while caring for my patients. Additionally one of
my patients I cared for told me that I was going to make a great nurse; and if not for my “student
nursing scrubs” he would have thought I was his regular nurse for the day!

As a NICU nurse I am committed to providing the best possible care for my patients and families and
engaging in evidence-based practice and educational opportunities throughout my career to best meet
my patient’s needs. Thank you for your time and consideration of my application for this position. I am
looking forward to hearing from you to discuss potential employment as a registered nurse in the NICU
at Tucson Medical Center. I can be reached at (520)-981-3259 or via email at [email protected].

Sincerely,

Alyssa Brooks
