of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers


before opening any compartment or disassembling any component
containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool


Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on
Cat products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Hydraulic oil pressure can remain in the hydraulic system on this


machine after the engine and pump have been stopped. Serious injury
can result if this pressure is not released before any service is done on
the hydraulic systems. In order to prevent possible injury, release the
hydraulic system pressure before working on any fitting, hose, or
hydraulic component.

Lower all attachments to the ground before service is started. If the


hydraulic system must be serviced, tested, or adjusted with the
attachment in the raised position, the attachments and lift cylinders
must be supported properly.

Always move the machine to a location away from the travel of other
machines. Be sure that other personnel are not near the machine when
the engine is running and tests or adjustments are being made.

1. Install bearings (20) in blade assembly (11) with Tooling (F) .

2. Install bearings (19) in circle (2) with Tooling (F) . Clean the dirt and the grease from the teeth on
circle (2) .

3. Attach a suitable lifting device and Tooling (C) and (E) to circle (2) . The weight of circle (2) is
approximately 1189 kg (2622 lb). Position circle (2) underneath the front frame assembly on suitable
blocking and Tooling (A) .

4. Clean the dirt and the grease from the circle drive pinion (18A) . Start the engine and run the engine.
Use the machine systems in order to position drawbar (18) on circle (2) .

5. Stop the engine and release the hydraulic system pressure. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly,
"Machine Preparation For Disassembly and Assembly".

6. Install shoes (16) and original shims (17) in their respective locations. Tighten bolts and nuts (17A) .

7. Install Tooling (B) . Attach a suitable lifting device to Tooling (B) . The weight of swivel (14) is
approximately 41 kg (90 lb).

8. Raise swivel (14) into position on the machine. Install bolts (15) . Remove Tooling (B) .

9. Install bolt (13) . Connect hose assemblies (12) .

10. Start the engine and run the engine. Operate the machine in order to raise circle (2) off the blocking
and Tooling (A) . Remove Tooling (A) and the blocking.

11. Stop the engine. Measure Dimension (B) between strip (13A) and circle (2) . Dimension (B) must be
no larger than 0.50 mm (0.020 inch). Add or remove shims (17) in order to obtain the correct
Dimension.

12. Loosen bolts and nuts (17A) in order to allow movement in shoes (16) . Seat circle drive pinion (18A)
in the teeth on circle (2) . Move circle (2) in order to obtain dimension (C) . Dimension (C) must be 60
mm (2.362 inch) to 63 mm (2.480 inch).

13. Evenly adjust bolts (13B) against shoes (16) in order to bring shoes (16) in contact with circle (2) .
Back off bolts (13B) in order to obtain Dimension (A) . Dimension (A) must be no greater than 0.80
mm (0.032 inch).

14. Tighten bolts and nuts (17A) to 720 ± 55 N·m (531 ± 41 lb ft). Tighten nuts (13C) to 570 ± 80 N·m
(421 ± 59 lb ft).

15. Start the engine and run the engine. Rotate circle (2) through the entire working range and check for
binding. Circle (2) must rotate freely.

16. Stop the engine and release the hydraulic system pressure. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly,
"Machine Preparation For Disassembly and Assembly".

17. Attach a suitable lifting device to blade assembly (11) . The weight of blade assembly (11) is
approximately 1588 kg (3500 lb). Position blade assembly (11) under the front frame assembly and
install suitable blocking.

18. Remove the suitable lifting device.

19. Start the engine and run the engine. Operate the machine in order to align the bores in circle (2) with
the bores in blade assembly (11) .

20. Stop the engine and release the hydraulic system pressure. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly,
"Machine Preparation For Disassembly and Assembly".

21. Install pin (10) and washer (9) .

Note: Use washer (9) in order to obtain a maximum clearance of 1.80 mm (0.071 inch) between blade
assembly (11) and circle (2) .

22. Install washers (8) and nut (7) .

23. Tighten nut (7) until there is no clearance. Back off nut (7) at one locking position and install cotter pin
(6) .

24. Repeat Steps 21 through 23 for the opposite side.

25. Connect hose assemblies (5) .

26. Install blade tip cylinder (4) . Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Blade Tip Cylinder Remove and
Install".

27. Start the engine and run the engine. Operate the machine in order to remove blocking.

28. Stop the engine.
