The guidelines of the APA are important because they enable consistency within a practice. It provides
clarity to the papers which have often complex topics, making the the papers easier to understand.
APA style also provides writers with a consistent formula for acknowledging the works of others. With
APA style, authors can better organize their research, and readers can easily find information that is
important for evaluating that research.

5. Briefly differentiate academic writing and journalistic writing. (5pts)

In academic writing, writers are making an argument for a particular point of view (hypothesis) and using
evidence and logic to prove or disprove it. On the other hand, in journalistic writing, they are presenting
opinions that mostly comes from people quoted in the story and not the writer. Journalistic writing is also
simpler and more accessible to the general public than academic writing.
