Course Description: This course discusses basic concepts of partial differential equations (PDE),
some techniques of solutions of first order PDE, Fourier series, second order PDE and analytical
methods of solutions.
Prerequisite(s): Math3081.
Credit Hours: 3 hrs
Course Objectives:
At the completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. define Fourier series of periodic functions,
2. expand periodic functions in terms of sine and cosine,
3. compute Fourier series,
4. determine the order and classification of PDEs
5. solve PDEs,
6. model some physical problems using PDEs,
7. apply Fourier and Laplace transforms for solving PDEs,
8. solve one dimensional heat flow and wave equations,
9. solve Laplace equations,
10. understand generalized functions,
11. apply generalized functions.
