COMPREHENSIVE RANKING SYSTEM (CRS)

The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) is criteria used by the Express Entry system to score
candidates who apply through the federal government’s skilled worker programs.

The below link shows how CRS score is calculated.

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/eligibility/criteria-
comprehensive-ranking-system/grid.html

Use the comprehensive ranking system tool to calculate your CRS score. This would help to set the
minimum required language tests scores for the desired score.

EDUCATIONAL CREDENTIAL ASSESSMENT (ECA)

Start with having an ECA to your degrees, it usually takes 2 to 3 months to get it done. You will have to
send in your degrees and transcripts by mail in a sealed envelope from the university. Usually the
university will take care of mailing the degrees (you will still have to pay for the transcripts and mail
service). Below are some of the designated organizations:

 Comparative Education Service – University of Toronto School of Continuing Studies

 International Credential Assessment Service of Canada
 World Education Services
 International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS)
 International Credential Evaluation Service

The most common portal used in Lebanon is WES (World Education Services). Most universities are well
aware of the process and have an easy process to send the documents. Make sure to select and ECA for
IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada).
Pharmacists and Physicians (NOC 3111 3112 3131) will have to get an ECA through designated professional
bodies.

Second Language:

 CLB7 + Master’s degree will result in +30 Points in your CRS score (additional points)
 CLB7 + Bachelor degree will result in +30 Points in you CRS score (additional points)

EXPRESS ENTRY PROFILE

After you receive your Language test results and your ECA report, and you are eligible for Express Entry;
you may now proceed to create an Express Entry profile.

Visit the below link and check your eligibility, when you’re done with the questionnaire you will be
provided with a code and the needed information to create an express entry profile.
https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/come-canada-tool-immigration-express-entry.html
Once you create and submit your profile, you will enter the pool with your designated CRS Score. This
score can be improved while you’re in the pool (i.e. new IELTS results, 2nd language results, Master’s
degree, etc…), you will need to update your profile accordingly. Note that age points will also be affected
if you pass your birthdate while you’re in the pool.

The profile expires in one year, you may re-submit it for another year since language tests expire in two
years.

EXPRESS ENTRY DRAWS AND ITA

Express Entry draws are done twice a month, usually every other Wednesday. The IRCC sends an Invitation
to Apply (ITA) to a certain number of applicants (lately they are sending invitation to around 3000
applicants). People with the highest scores are invited to apply their documents, the lowest score invited
is called the cut-off score, and it is currently in the 470’s.
