Reflective Summary To Christian Morality

Christian morality involves living according to the teachings of Christ and following his example of love, compassion, and sacrifice. The author questions whether they truly embody Christian morality due to witnessing hypocrisy in others and in themselves. They realize they must forgive others as Christ did, even when others betray or disappoint them. True Christian morality means sincerely imitating Christ's selfless love for others through prayer, participation in communion, and putting God at the center of all things. Though humans are imperfect, focusing on faith and compassion rather than perfection allows one to become a worthy follower of Christ.

Reflective Summary to Christian Morality

Christian morality is what is

expected from us Christians to live our
lives. To follow the path that Christ has
taken and to be like Christ when He was
still living here on land. But are we as
Christians conscious enough to know what
is right or wrong? If we do less of what
Christ did before, would makes us less of
Christian? How would you know that you
are making the right decision? Is it because
the majority benefited from it even though
the means of it was the opposite?
As a Christian I question a lot of things maybe because I witnessed hypocrisy at its finest.
I am a person who hated something, or someone are not true to their words or those who were
only good at words. “Idiocracy is incurable” I said as the fight for COVID – 19 in our country
took longer than expected. I had witnessed the same thing when our place experienced a strong
earthquake on February 6, 2012. The city that time was chaotic. All the people began to hold
their bible high begging for mercy. But after that, the people that used to pray hard that time
disappeared. As if the mercy that they need was only for that time and not for their lifetime.
What is Christian morality? I asked myself is it
different from what we had discussed during our ethics
class? After I read it, I come up to a conclusion that the
two are similar, but based on what I understood from
what I read, Christian morality is identifying right or
wrong in accordance to the Christian teachings and sacred
scriptures. But understanding what Christian morality
through what you read is not enough to identify yourself
as a Christian who lives his/her life in accordance with
the Christian Morality.
As we discussed the Christian Morality, I realized
that by not having faith to others just because they are
hypocrites in my eyes I am not living up to the Christian morality. I said that because I recalled
an experience of Jesus Christ where He still trusted Judas even though Jesus knew that Judas
Iscariot would betray Him. I am a hypocrite just like what I see from others. I am Judas. I
betrayed Jesus by not loving others equally, for not having faith to others and most of all, for
betraying His love for His creation. But I am thankful because even though I am like Judas, Jesus
loves me with all the betrayals that I have done.
Christian Morality is to be
like Jesus Christ. “How can you be
like Jesus Christ when you did not
encounter him personally?”
Ignorance is not an excuse. You
know that God exist but how can you
question the existence of Jesus Christ
when there were thousands of people
witnessed His miracles? It was
written in the Bible by those who had
seen Him, who had encounter Him
and to those who believed in Him to
the very end. We just need to have faith in Him. A faith that is so strong that it could move
mountains. We need to follow the path of Christ before it is too late. Christian morality never
choses anyone. It is for all of us. God sent Jesus to be the foundation of our Christian Morality.
We should imitate Jesus Christ for He was sent by God to be Our Savior. Have faith even if
others do not.
“Words are meaningless without intent and
follow through”
If we act like Jesus, it should come from our
hearts and not because we are desperate to follow the
path of Christ. Sincerity is what Jesus Christ showed
to His followers and not because He was obliged to do
so. We should do deeds with sincerity and passion to
help others just like Jesus did. If you face struggles
along the way, do not forget to pray. Prayer is what
we really need in times of hardships. If we put all our
attentions when praying, you will feel relieved
afterwards and that is the power of praying. Even
Jesus Christ prayed to Our Father, we should also do
the same for we are a follower of Christ.
The Holy Eucharist is the highest form of
prayer. It summarizes the life of Jesus Christ. Through
the Holy Eucharist, we could feel His presence, His love for us and His sacrifice. Whoever eats
my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day. For my flesh is
true food, and my blood is true drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me
and I in him. Just as the living Father sent me and I have life because of the Father, so also the
one who feeds on me will have life because of me (John 6:54-57). For as often as you eat this
bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the death of the Lord until he comes (1 Corinthians
11:26).. Participating into the Holy Eucharist means you are taking a part of Jesus with you. Just
like prayer, we should put all our attention to it and let go of everything that is bring you down at
that moment. We should acknowledge our sins during the mass, and we should also learn to
forgive those who sinned against us. Even Christ forgave those who hurt him, how come we,
would not do the same? We are made according to God’s liking. We should cherish every
moment and should love one another.
Humans as we are, we commit sins, we do not follow what is given to us, and we
sometimes forgot the presence of God. We are imperfect. We are the ones who made the concept
of perfection without even realizing that it is not we need. What we need is faith and
compassion. We should know how to identify what is right or wrong and should always put God
in everything we do. Just like what Jesus replied to a rich man “One thing you lack: go and sell
all you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow
Me. ..With people it is impossible, but not with God; for all things are possible with God.” Mark
10:17-27. If we could do that, we may be worthy to be a follower of Christ. Our imperfection
does not stop us to become worthy of the promises of Christ. Our Christian Morality is our hope
in crossing the bridge to heaven
