Course Description
This two-hour presentation will provide an overall understanding of the
Lung-Large Intestine, Stomach and Spleen Micro-meridians and the
concepts to understand their use in KHT:Korean Hand Therapy.
Topics include:
1. Comparison of the C (Lung) Micro-Meridian & Lung meridian
2. General Functions and Indications of the C Micro-meridian
3. Strutural Similarities and Differences between the C Micro-
meridian and the body meridian
4. Fuctions, Characteristics and Symptoms of the C Micro-
meridian major points and body meridian equivalents

(C) Lung Micro-meridian
General Functions and Indications:
1. The Lung governs the Chi of the body.
The lung controls respiration
disfunction appears as colds, coughs
and breathing difficulties
The distribution of chi to the entire body
disfunction shows as skin problems.
The Lungs inhale clear chi and descend it to the body.
direction can be reversed showing as cough and asthma.
The lung descends chi, and fluid.
malfunction leads to the formation of phlegm and mucus.

(C) Lung Micro-meridian: Five Element Associations
2. Five Element Associations:
Grief hurts the lung but is overcome by joy of the heart
Heat damages the lung and is overcome by
coldness of the Kidney.
The pungent taste damages the body hair
and is controlled by the bitter taste of the fire element.
The lung fills the shoulder with chi.
The nature of its smell is fishy.
3. Five Element Manifestations:
Dryness, sound of crying
Body hair sense of smell
Color white organ is the nose,
Coughing pungent in taste
emotion is grief.

D-(Large Intestine) Micro-meridian
Copyright Dan Lobash 2014 13
(C) Large Intestine Micro-meridian:
General Functions
The concept of the Large Intestine in Oriental medicine includes the
Entire intestinal systems from the duodenum through the anus’, not just
the large intestine as in Western medicine.
The Nei Ching states, “ ..the Large Intestine functions to transport and
transmit. Transformation and change come from the Large Intestine.”
Abnormal energy of the Large Intestine first affects itself and later the
paired organ the Lung with conditions such as bronchitis, asthma and
cough.
If the disease of the LI progresses other organs, following the control
cycle, are effected, such as the development of Liver disorders with
conditions like hepatitis, headache, and heart disorders such as
palpitations and insomnia.

E-(Stomach) Micro-meridian
General Function and Indications:
General Functions:
The stomach is described as including all parts of the digestive
system. It stores food and sends it to the spleen for processing and
extraction of chi and blood. If the stomach is strong,
then the rest of the body will be strong.
The Common Indications:
• Stomach and Spleen related disease
• The Entire digestive tract and related disorders
• Facial problems:Facial paralysis and deviation of eyes and mouth
• Problems of upper and lower extremeties: Paralysis and spasmotic
movements
• Breast related problems: Mastitis
• Dental and oral pain
• Ophthalmic and nasal disorders
• Cardiac and thoracic disorders
• Hepatic and renal disorders
