Lesson Plan

Business/Materials Lesson Objectives


A short video, Active Board, Students will be able to identify the relationship
Internet connection, Worksheets between people on a family tree

Students will be able to make their own family tree

Warm-up and Objective Discussion

Teacher will remind the last lesson about family members

Objective discussion: teacher will tell students that they will learn names of some more family
members in this lesson and they will make a family tree.

Instruct and Model  R  W  L  S


I will show them a short video about drawing family tree and explain how to draw family
tree what is the connection between these connected boxes .then I will show the picture of
Mike’s family and show the family tree of this family step by step on screen. When I do this I
will explain the new words for them
(aunt,uncle,cousin,grandmother,grandfather,grandparents,greatgrandparents
son,,daughter,grandson,granddaughter,niece,nephew )After that students will complete the
sentences with the suitable word about Mike’s family by looking at the mike’s family tree on
the smart board . When we finish the flipchart we will solve an online quiz about family
members so they can learn the address of website that they will have quiz when they are at
home and they will know how to get the quiz how to put the code of given quiz by me . I will
show them how to use https://quizizz.com/.When they take quiz I will see their results on
internet. They can download the application or they can get the quiz on the website by using
the code I give them.

Guided Practice  R  W  L  S

I will let them to make a very simple family tree of their own family on a paper that I give
them They will do their own family tree when they do this they will use the boxes, circles etc.
(they can be creative about the family tree) and there will be names of family members for
each boxes and they will write who are they under each name and box like cousin, aunt etc.
When they do it I will open a soft music when they listen they do it and I will check the
students work and help them and allow them to speak with their friends. It will take 5-6
minutes and they will be finished after that they will exchange their papers with their friends
and take a look at their friends family tree and compare with her/his paper then take their
papers back they will see what is missing in their paper or what is missing in their friends
paper talk about it 2-3 minutes. I will summarize the lesson and define each family members
one by one and they will complete my sentences as I define each family member For
example; our mother’s or father’s mother is our ………(they will complete my sentence and
tell grandmother)We will define all of it.

Independent Practice  R  W  L  S
I will give them a story of a child on a paper and give them another paper there will be an
empty family tree of the child given in the story so students will fill in the boxes with the
suitable names according to story of the child .

I will give them a short paragraph about a child who is explaining her family members and
there are some questions about it. I will ask them to answer the questions clearly write the
names of  aunt ,uncle, grandmother, grandfather etc. of this child .I will tell them if they have
any questions they can ask me. Then I will give them homework about completing missing
letters in vocabulary of family members. The next day I will check the home works if they
need revision we will revise the subject.

Assessment  R  W  L  S
I will let the students check their friends’ family trees and see what is missing in their family
tree or at their friends family tree and let them know and discuss about it.
As memory learning : I will give them a vocabulary quiz about family members on internet on
https://quizizz.com/
I will send them the code of the quiz when they login they will use the code to get the quiz and
I will evaluate them at home and send them feedback and their parents
I will find the gaps in their learning by this quiz and what is missing then give feedback.

I will tell them to make their own family tree by using real photos of their family members and
colorful pens glues papers etc. they will make a good and large family tree it will include all
mother, father, sister, brother, uncle, aunt, grandmother, grandfather, cousin, niece, nephew if
they want they can enlarge it and they can put extra family members like great grandmother
,great grandfather etc.it will be graded as a project homework.
