English homework #14

Activity 4: Speaking – Used to and would | Vocabulary

Learning objective: Use used to and would and words related to cause and result to talk about yourself.

a) Think about yourself now and how you have changed in the last 10 years. Make notes on some

of these topics:

Learning a new language.

When I was a child, I didn’t use to study a lot of English. I would do my homework just to finish it and
have a grade. Now I love the idea of studying to actually learn English, I’m constantly seeking for
improvement through everything I do and I know with patience I will succeed.

Free time:

Back in the days I used to have plenty of time to play with, I would do lots of activities during the day
without thinking about duties. Also, I wouldn’t mind spending 3-5 hours playing games, as you can see, I
wouldn’t care much about managing time. However, As I have grown, Nowadays I have more duties and
responsibilities such as dedicating time to learning, which takes most of the time, helping with the
housework, working out, and taking care of myself. These activities, as anything in life, required time
management and dedication so there’s not much free time.

Food

Years ago, my relationship with food used to be neutral and it wasn’t something to worry about. I would
eat lots of junk food without thinking about health and the consequences of doing such action that
often. I wouldn’t eat anything other than fast food and processed food. Also, I would often eat white
bread twice instead of rice or any other whole food. However, now as I understand more about
nutrition and what our bodies need to survive, I can make the right choices when it comes to eating.
Now I can eat different foods and not just the processed ones.
