The DOB Scholars Program is a 10-week virtual seminar series presented by the NYC Department of Buildings for CUNY students interested in careers related to engineering, architecture, construction inspection, sustainability, public safety, and regulatory affairs. THE DOB Scholars Program ENRICHMENT FOR THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT

Presented by the NYC Department of Buildings (DOB)

APPLICATION DEADLINE: Dec.11th, 2020
OVERVIEW A Virtual Seminar Series

Over the course of ten virtual seminars, students will receive presentations from our professionals on a
diverse array of topics related to the career paths detailed above. Architects, engineers, sustainability
experts, and construction inspectors will discuss their careers and their daily work, and paint a
clear picture of how their efforts contribute to public safety.

In addition to the seminar series, students will have access to networking opportunities and professional
development workshops, and receive a Certificate of Completion from the Agency for their resumes.

MISSION

The program aims to introduce students to the wide range of career tracks within the DOB,
while, at the same time, demonstrating the necessity of our multifaceted work for public safety.

SEMINAR SERIES

Seminars will consist of presentations on topics such as civil and forensic engineering; architecture;
energy and sustainability; code development and revision; plan examination; legal enforcement;
emergency operations; and construction inspection.

ADDITIONAL BENEFITS
1) Students will receive detailed information on civil service examinations.
2) Additionally, students will receive assistance with resume drafting, cover letter writing, and
the development of interview skills.
3) At the conclusion of the program, students will receive a Certificate of Completion from the
NYC Department of Buildings.

REGISTRATION

Students must submit a resume and complete a brief application.


We are limiting the program size to 40 seats, so make sure you apply by the deadline.
The program is open to both undergraduates and graduate students.
