Active directory is a special software on which you can create Domains, Domain Users, Groups, Computers and
control them. You can install Active Directory from Windows Server 2003 server. Using the following steps.
1. Make sure that file system of the hard disk on which you install server
operating system is NTFS.(you can not install Active Directory in
FAT File System).
2. Make sure that Active Directory Is Not Installed In Your Server
In the Administrative Tools.
(StartProgramsAdministrative Tools(If no Active Directory

6. Read the information in Pic-11 , select “Permissions compatible only with Windows 200 or windows server 2003 Operating
Systems” then click Next, Read the information in Pic-12,Enter “Restore Mode Password” and Confirm Password, then click Next,
Read your Installation Summary and Click Next in Pic-13,

7. When Pic-14 displayed wait until it starts installation progress (Do not Click the Cancel Button),When Pic-15
displays insert the CD which contains the Server Operating System. Then click OK, Automatically the installation
progress will start as shown in Fig-16 .

Joining (Adding) Client computers to your Domain.
To add client computers to your Domain(Server)use the following steps.
1. Identify the Domain Name of your Server(E.g. Sheba.com,mekelle.com,ethio.com), let you have an
administrator account and the go to the Client computer you want to add.
2. on the client computer Right Click on My ComputerPropertyComputer Name

3. Click on the Change button ,click OK in Pic-25 after you fill the form, enter User name =Administrator
and password= your administrator password of the server (Domain) to which you are adding your client
computer ,then click ok in Pic-26,

4. If your administrator password is correct and the Domain name you entered is correct Pic-27 will display then
click OK(in Pic-27)OK (Restart prompt) OK(in property sheet)Yes(in Restart Prompt)to restart the
computer and to finish ,else ,Pic-28 will display then try again.

5. When your computer restarts the following screen will display.

enter the Account name you have created in the OR enter the Account name you have created in the
server(Domain),select the Domain from the client,select ,clientname(Login to this
