Part one :Reading (15pts)
Read carefully the text then do the activities :
The observation of the space has always attracted human beings. In the far
past, it was done out of curiosity and amazement because of the fascinating effect
that the celestial bodies exert on our minds.
But for a long time, the knowledge that people had about the astronomical
branch was unimportant and inaccurate because of the lack of appropriate
instruments and the absence of reliable techniques to carry out the complex
investigations. Actually, the understanding that specialists acquire about all these
elements widens almost daily and numerous secrets unknown before the universe
get unveiled slowly.
No matter how developed our comprehension of some of its laws and forces
has become in comparison to what our forefathers knew the information we have
accumlated about it remains insignificant and worthless in front of the infinite mass
of the world surrounding us. Yet, this paradox does not hinder modern men from
pursuing their research in space exploration and gleaning invaluable advances in
various spheres like that of meteorology, telecommunication, the prediction of
natural disasters and the fulfillment of an old dream :to find another planet like our
Earth.
