20. Open Questions (to be completed by fresh-graduates only)

A) What do you consider to be the major challenges facing the profession today? How would you help position Dar Al-Handasah to both
meet and take advantage of these?

In my humble opinion, CRP is underrated and seen as a profession of teaching or an unattended profession itself. We have seen
people professionalise in further profession’s. whereas there is so much potential for development and regulation of city and rural
areas.

B) In Dar Al-Handasah, we work in challenging environments and strive to develop solutions for our clients. How we get there is as
important as getting there. Describe an achievement (preferably non-academic), highlighting your approach to a problem you faced
as well as the solution you developed.
Regarding solutions, I personally had a big hand in helping out planning our house and sorting the architectural aspect of it.
As we were firstly not happy with given plans and I recognised a lot of space was being wasted and certain aspects of the house
were planned incorrectly.. No blame to the architect but with my experience gained at university I was able to look at it with a
different aspect.

C) What is your definition of leadership?

Leadership means responsibility. sometimes taking the fall, making sure not to exploit the weaknesses of my team but
encouraging skill, and teamwork. Sometimes helping others with things they’re unable to understand. I think doing the work for them
is irresponsible but whereas helping them improve and being able to learn alongside them is the goal.
Teamwork is essential towards a better success rate and a higher esteem level.

prc hr-01 (f3) rev 8, page 8/10

D) Often, new hires bring in a fresh, outside perspective during their first months at Dar Al-Handasah. We’re always interested in their
suggestions for improvement. If an idea or suggestion of yours would in your opinion bring significant improvements for Dar Al-
Handasah, how would you go about communicating it?
Firstly communication with the team, and team leader. If the idea or suggestion is well planned and revised I would go about
telling the head, or supervisor about the idea and how it could help certain aspects.

E) What is the most innovative thing you have done?

In terms of innovation I did a lot of thing as a part of my assignments

Case study on urbanization by using zopp technique.
Planned housing schemes on contours and simply as a assignment and also during my internship period.
Etc.

F) What are your hobbies? Why are these hobbies satisfying to you?

My hobbies include research on new innovative ways of lifestyle within boundaries, healthy eating and an active lifestyle.
these are satisfying to me because they are not just hobbies but life improving hobbies. Thinking healthy and being healthy is the
best way towards innovation and staying focused, in our beloved country we face many difficulties and personally having a healthy
lifestyle can be productive and help improve with negativity into positivity.

G) What is your favorite reading material? and why?

Reading material includes bloggs and a novel now and then, to help improve my reading skills and language overall.

prc hr-01 (f3) rev 8, page 9/10

H) And lastly why us? Why are you applying to Dar Al-Handasah and amiably filling out this lengthy form we’ve asked for?

Firstly, this is a great opportunity for me and others like me in this profession as Darul Handasah
has it’s recognition and reputation! We were approached and gladly received this opportunity.
Secondly I am applying because in my opinion this is a great opportunity for me to learn and do
good work, to gain professionalism and perspective. Filling out this form has actually been uplifting
for me and in a way given me a rush of adrenaline! The thought of being productive, learning,
working, putting in hours, helping where I can, improving my skills, expressing my skills, fixing my
weaknesses, and so much more! I think of this as the best opportunity for me as a graduate! Cannot
wait to join if you choose to accept me.
