Equipment Inspection
Inspect the goods to ensure that:
l The chassis appearance is in good condition without scratches, peeling paint, blisters
or stains.
l The chassis surface is intact without physical damage, such as paint stripping and
scratches.
l All fastening screws are tight and intact.
l The accessories required for the installation are correct and complete.
Classify the inspected goods.
Device Handover
1. After the examination of goods, the engineering supervisor and the customer's
representative should sign the Unpacking Acceptance Report.
2. The Unpacking Acceptance Reports are saved in duplicate by both parties. The
engineering supervisor must send the Unpacking Acceptance Report back to the
representative office within seven days for archiving.
Caution!
If any item is missing, delayed, wrongly delivered, unexpected, or damaged, fill in the
Unpacking and Inspection Feedback Form and send the form to ZTE immediately.

1. Install the SRU2 onto the OBU bracket 2 and fasten the screws, see Figure 3-1.
2. Install the OBU onto the OBU bracket 2 and fasten the screws, see Figure 3-2.

3. Install the OBU bracket 1 onto the OBU bracket 2 and fasten the screws, see Figure
3-3.
4. Remove the dustproof film on the polarization interface of the SRU2, see Figure 3-4.

5. Apply Vaseline lubricant on the antenna end of the ODU and the waveguide end of the
antenna in turn, see Figure 3-5.

6. Install the ZXMW NR8961 onto the antenna and fasten the screws, see Figure 3-6.
7. Connect the SRU2 and OBU through an IF cable, see Figure 3-7.

1. Install the discrete mounting kits onto the pole, see Figure 3-8.
2. Install the SRU2 onto the OBU bracket 2 and fasten the screws, see Figure 3-9.
3. Install the OBU onto the OBU bracket 2 and fasten the screws, see Figure 3-10.

4. Install the OBU bracket 1 onto the OBU bracket 2 and fasten the screws, see Figure
3-11.
5. Remove the dustproof film on the polarization interface of the SRU2, see Figure 3-12.

6. Install the ZXMW NR8961 onto the discrete mounting kits, see Figure 3-13.

7. Install the UDR end of the flexible waveguide to the single-polarized antenna, and
install the PDR end of the flexible waveguide to the discrete mounting kits. Connect
the SRU to the OBU through an IF cable, see Figure 3-14.

8. Fasten the flexible waveguide with flexible waveguide clamps. Apply lubricant to the
surface of the flexible waveguide. Make labels on both ends of the flexible waveguide.
Note:
The flexible waveguide shorter than 0.6 m needs no fastening, but the flexible
waveguide longer than 0.6 m must be fastened by flexible waveguide clamps.

1. Install the OBU onto the discrete mounting kits, refer to “Step of3.2 1+0 Discrete Way”.
2. As shown inFigure 3-15, another SRU2 is installed on the separate installer.
3. As shown in Figure 3-16, a medium frequency cable is installed between SRU2 and
OBU, and a soft waveguide is installed between the SRU2 and the antenna.

Context
The grounding cable is a yellow-green multi-grand fire-resistant wire with the
cross-sectional area being 16 mm2. A double-hole terminal is used to connect the
device, and a single-hole terminal is used to connect the ground. The grounding cable is
fabricated on site in most cases. For how to fabricate a grounding cable, see Figure 4-2.

1. Cut a grounding cable in proper length. Strip off the outer protective tube, with the
core being exposed.
2. Put a heat shrinking tube on the cable, and crimp the grounding terminal.
3. Use a heat gun to blow the heat shrinking tube.
Note:
It is acceptable to wrap the grounding terminal and grounding cable connectors with
insulation taps.

1. Connect the device end of the grounding cable to the grounding point of the ZXMW
NR8961, see Figure 4-3.

Context
The power cable needs to be processed and assembled on the site.

The special tools that may be used during the installation are in a hermetically sealed
enclosure, see Figure 4-4.
Steps
1. Crimp tube terminals.
a. Peel off the shielded layer at the end of the power cable. For the peeled cable
size, see Figure 4-5.
b. Insert the cable to a tube terminal, see Figure 4-6. After the cable is inserted, 0.5
mm–1 mm of the core should be exposed.
A tube terminal at a suitable size must be selected based on the cross-sectional
area of the cable; otherwise, cable installation may be difficult and connections
are not reliable.
c. Crimp the cable properly with crimping pliers, see Figure 4-7.

The section of a crimped terminal is a trapezoid, and there are transverse grooves
on the undersurface.
b. Insert the special tool into the pressing holes at the top of the DC power cable
connector, press the tool until the clamp springs are opened, connect the power
cable, and loosen the tool, see Figure 4-9.

a. Push the inner cable jacket into the bayonet until both the claws are stuck to the
interface flange.
b. Push the rubber plug to the bottom of the inner cable jacket.

Steps
Fabricating the Ethernet Cable
1. Cut an Ethernet cable in proper length in accordance with the engineering survey
requirements.
2. Fabricate the Ethernet cable, see Figure 4-12.

Note:
The shielded layer of the Ethernet cable should be crimped securely to the outer metal
layer of the shielded terminal.

g. Slightly tighten the fixing nut of the waterproof protective tube, ensuring that the
waterproof protective tube installed on the ZXMW NR8961 can slide upwards.

6. Push the waterproof protective tube upwards, fasten the screws and fixing nuts, see
Figure 4-14.

7. Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to the local maintenance terminal or the
POE power module.

Steps
1. Pass the optical fiber through the outer cable jacket, rubber plug, inner cable jacket,
and tensile piece in turn, see Figure 4-15.
a. The optical fiber should be inserted into the rubber plug through the side gap.
b. The metal jacket of the optical fiber should be stuck to the gaps of the tensile piece.
2. Insert the optical fiber connector into the corresponding interface until you hear a click,
see Figure 4-16.

Steps
1. Make connectors of the IF jumper and the IF cable. After the connectors are made,
take appropriate protection measures to protect the connectors from being damaged
during the hoisting or cabling process.
2. Paste temporary labels at the two ends of the IF cables.
3. Connect the other end of the IF cable to the IF interface of the OBU, and fasten it see
Figure 4-19.

4. Waterproof the interfaces of the OBU and the IF cables. For operation details, refer to
Appendix A Waterproofing an Outdoor Connector.

1. Add labels on both ends of the MIMO cable.
2. Connect one end (with two terminals) of the MIMO/XPIC cable to the X_IN and X_OUT
interfaces of the ZXMW NR8961, see Figure 4-20.
3. Lock the bellows to the proper position of the shell, see Figure 4-21.

4. Connect the other end (with two terminals) of the MIMO/XPIC cable to the X_OUT and
X_IN interfaces of another ZXMW NR8961 device.

1. Install the expansion tube.
a. Mark the positions on the wall in accordance with the distance requirements
between holes.
Note:
Place the AC-to-DC power module at the installation position. Use a mark pen to
mark the installation holes.
b. Use a hammer drill to make holes at the marked positions, and use a vacuum
cleaner to clean dust, see Figure 5-1.

6. Insert the shielded layer into the grounding interface of the power connector, and fasten
the fixing screws on the grounding interface. The power cable of the POE power
module is fabricated.
For how to install the waterproof protective tube on the Ethernet cable, see Figure 5-5.

1. Loosen the fixing nuts at the tail of the outer protective tube, and remove the outer
protective tube, grommet, and inner protective tube in order.
2. Use a cable tie to bind the Ethernet cable at a distance of 250-300 mm away from
the connector to prevent the protective tube from gliding during the future operations.
Pass the outer protective tube through the Ethernet cable.
3. Crimp the Ethernet cable into the cable-through hole of the grommet.
4. Pass the inner protective tube through the Ethernet cable. The waterproof protective
tube of the Ethernet cable is installed.
Steps
1. Install expansion bolts.
a. Mark the positions on the wall in accordance with the distance requirements
between holes. For the requirements, see Figure 5-6.

b. Use a hammer drill to make holes at the marked positions, and use a vacuum
cleaner to clean dust, see Figure 5-7.

c. Slightly tighten the nuts of the expansion bolts, tap the expansion bolts into the
holes, and fasten the nuts to make the expansion tubes fully expanded, see Figure
5-8. Loosen the nuts counterclockwise, and remove the nuts, spring washers, and
flat washers.
2. Install the wall-mounting kits (wall kits) of the POE power module on the all, see Figure
5-9.

3. Install the wall-mounting kits (device kits) of the POE power module on the POE power
module, see Figure 5-10.

4. Install the POE power module (with wall-mounting device kits being installed) on the
wall-mounting kits (wall kits), and fasten the fixing screws at the upper part of the
wall-mounting kits, see Figure 5-11.

5. Install the grounding cable of the POE power module, see Figure 5-12.
b. Install the double-hole connector of the grounding cable to the grounding interface.

c. The grounding cable is connected to the POE power module. Connect the other
end of the grounding cable to the grounding bar.
6. Install the power cable of the POE power module, see Figure 5-13.
a. Connect the power cable connector to the power interface (AC PWR) of the POE
power module.
b. Push the inner waterproof protective tube upwards until it is locked in the
waterproof protective tube slot of the power interface.
c. Push the grommet upward to the crimping hole at the bottom of the inner
waterproof protective tube.
d. Push the outer waterproof protective tube upwards, and fasten the fixing nuts at
the bottom of the outer protective tube.
e. Connect the other end of the power cable of the POE module to the AC power
supply device.
7. Install the Ethernet cable of the POE power module, see Figure 5-14.

a. Insert the end (with waterproof protective tube) of the Ethernet cable into the POE
interface.
b. Push the inner waterproof protective tube upwards until it is locked in the POE
interface slot.
c. Push the grommet upward to the crimping hole at the bottom of the inner
waterproof protective tube.
d. Push the outer waterproof protective tube upwards, and fasten the fixing nuts at
the bottom of the outer protective tube.
e. Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to the POE interface of the ZXMW
NR8961.

1 The position and azimuth of the antenna conform to the project design.
2 The antenna is installed correctly (the end with a wide flange should be upwards, and the
end with a narrow flange should be downwards).
3 The antenna support is securely installed to the pole, and satisfies the wind-resistance
requirements.
6 The antenna, hybrid combiner, and ZXMW NR8961 are protected by the lightning rod (the
protective angle of the lightning rod should be smaller than 45° or 30° in mountains or
frequent lightning areas).

1 The soft waveguide flange interface is securely connected to the flange adapter and
antenna.
2 The bending radius of the soft waveguide is in the allowable range. The bending radius
is smaller than 90°.
3 The discrete mounting kits are protected by the lightning rod (the protective angle of the
lightning rod should be smaller than 45° or 30° in mountains or frequent lightning areas).

Item
1 The routes of cables comply with construction drawings for easy maintenance and
expansion.
3 Cables should be bound neat and in order with appropriate force. The sharp ends of the
cable ties should be trimmed.
4 The optical fibers cannot be bound in a forced manner, but can move freely at the cable clip
sections.
6 The fiber connection point should be clean (without dust). Unused fiber connectors and
optical interfaces on boards must be protected by caps (plugs).
7 The cables should be routed in a smooth manner at the bending sections, and a large
bending radius should be used.
8 Cable labels are written correctly and pasted securely. The labels are pasted neatly
and facing the same direction. It is recommended that you paste a label 2 cm from the
connector. Labels can be made based on the customer's requirements.

5 When power cables and grounding cables are connected to the primary power supply,
the grounding copper bar, or the first cabinet of a row, the excessive parts should be cut
off, instead of being coiled.
6 Power cables, grounding cables, and signal cables should be laid separately, with space of
3 cm.

8 Power cables and grounding cables are routed in a smooth manner at the bending sections.
9 The lugs of power cables and grounding cables should be crimped or soldered securely.
10 Power cables, grounding cable lugs, and naked wires are protected with tubes or insulation
tapes. There are no naked copper wires at the connector sections, and flat washers and
spring washers are installed properly.
12 Labels of power cables and grounding cables should be written correctly. The labels should
be pasted neatly and face the same direction. It is recommended that you paste a label 2
cm from the connector. Labels may also be made based on the customer's requirements.
The power supply switches of the first cabinet of a row should be identified clearly.

Context
The waterproof handling for an outdoor connector is often described as the "1+3+3" mode.
In other words, the connector is wrapped with one layer of PVC insulating tape, three layers
of waterproof cement, and three layers of PVC insulating tape.
The waterproof handling tapes are wrapped on the connector until 3-5 cm below it.
Steps
1. Insert the IF cable into the ODU and fasten the cable, see Figure A-1.

2. Wrap the connector with one layer of PVC insulating tape from bottom to top, see
Figure A-2.
3. Wrap the connector with three layers of waterproof cement in the following manner:
from bottom to top, from top to bottom, and from bottom to top, see Figure A-3.
4. Wrap three layers of PVC insulating tape in the following manner: from bottom to top,
from top to bottom, and from bottom to top, see Figure A-4.

5. Use anti-ultraviolet cable ties to bind the two ends of the tape tightly, see Figure A-5.
