Document Scope
This document provides an overview of the Elatec TCPConv, DevPack and how to configure it for
communicating input data via a network exchange. Please refer to the official documentation
provided with the DevPack for further configuration information.

TCPConv hardware
The Elatec TCPConv features two network connections (One to connect to a network and one to
connect to an MFP) and one USB connection (to attach a card reader).

CAT5 Connector (x2)

Network MFP
Figure 1 - Showing port and intended uses of TCPConv.

Both the MFP and TCPConv will have their own unique IP-Addresses as configured by the network
administrator. TCPConv simply passes data onto the attached MFP, it doesn’t provide any
networking configuration or IP-Addressing.
Configuring TCPConv for use with JAII
Download the latest TCPConv DevPack from https://www.elatec-rfid.com/en/download-center/

Note: At the time of writing the DevPack is only supported with Windows XP and Windows 7 and
requires .Net 3.5 to be installed.

Note: By default the TCPConv is configured with the following network properties:

IP-Address: 192.168.0.98
Subnet: 255.255.255.0

Extract the package and run TCConfig.exe

If a TCPConv device is discovered on the network, it is listed as shown in the following diagram.

To configure the device (Network and USB settings) select a device from the list and click
[Configuration].

A Login dialogue is presented, enter the [Name] and [Password] for the TCPConv device

Note: Default authentication properties are:

Name: admin
Password: <blank>

[Network] tab. tab.

In the [Network] tab you can make configuration changes to the TCPConv device for your network.

In the [USB] tab you can make configuration changes to how the USB connected device is configured
and data sent across the network. The rest of this document is carried out in the [USB] tab.

For USB card readers you will need to configure the [Communication Parameters] as per your
device and cards to be used against the device.

To setup the device so that it will send card data to Kayleigh make the following changes:

[Enable] TCP Client

Enter the Kayleigh server IP address in the [Remote IP Address:] field
Enter the port number 57000 in the [Remote Port:] field.

Accept all other default settings and click [OK].

You need to [Restart] the device for changes to take affect
