1. PURPOSE
Purpose of this SOP is to outline the method of storage, handling and installation of Air
Handling units, valve package.

4. PROCEDURE
4.1.STORAGE
4.1.1. AHU’s shall be stored on flat surface with suitable packing below the units.
4.1.2. All AHU’s shall be covered and shall not be exposed directly to the outside
Condition.
4.1.3. If AHU’s received in dismantled condition, then ensure that all loose parts like fans,
coils, base frame, panels… etc. received shall have unique numbers as per models
and shall be segregated and stored accordingly for easy retrieval.
4.2.PREPARTION
4.2.1. Check and ensure all drawings used for installation are latest and approved for
construction.
4.2.2. Check the foundations prepared if any, for installation are as per drawings.
4.2.3. If AHU’s to be hanged from the slab, check the supporting details.
4.2.4. Check the availability of space for removal of coils, filter, motors etc.
4.3.INSTALLATION
4.3.1. Install Air Handling Units as per approved drawings, duct orientation and model
nos. mentioned on the drawings. Use rubber pads or vibration isolator springs as per

approved drawing.
4.3.2. Check the slope of the drain tray in the direction of drain pipe connection.
4.3.3. Flow tests the drain tray and ensures water is drained out completely.
4.3.4. Complete the valve package and piping connections as per approved drawings.
Check the coil inlet and outlet with respect to the direction of air flow.
4.3.5. Use unions or flanges at the equipment connections for easy removal of pipe etc.
4.3.6. Ensure 3-way / 2-way valves, strainer are installed correctly as per direction of the
flow.
4.3.7. Connect the drain piping with U trap as per approved drawings or manufacture’s
recommendation depending upon the static of the fan.
4.3.8. Install the electrical power connections as per approved drawings.
4.3.9. Provide earthing as per approved drawings/manufacturers instruction.
4.3.10. Clean the interiors of AHU drain tray, ‘U’ trap in the drain piping.
4.3.11. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions while installing the AHU.

5.2.Signed off Installation request with installation check list
5.3.Fan Performance Test reports from Manufacturer.
