01-01 Cylinder head [PDE]

Adjusting - Machining the cylinder head, 9, 11, 12, 13 and
16 litre engines for HPI and PDE
The following applies to cylinder heads with an uneven gasket surface and leaking
cylinder head gasket.

Designation Dimensions

Cylinder head, height 125.0 ± 0.1 mm

Machining measurement (total) 0.5 mm

- 1st tightening 0.3 mm

- 2nd tightening 0.2 mm

Lowest permissible height on cylinder head 124.4 mm

The cylinder head should be machined in two steps:

1. Machine 0.3 mm of the sealing surface.

2. Machine 0.2 mm of the sealing surface.
If this is not enough to level the sealing surface, the cylinder head must be replaced.
The gasket groove must be machined after face milling; see 01-01 Cylinder head >
Cylinder head [XXX] > Adjustment – Cutting the cylinder head gasket grooves.
