Agency overview
The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) provides an independent, efficient, fair and just
prosecution service for the people of New South Wales. Its vision is to be a dynamic prosecution service
recognised for its excellence and leadership. It acts in the public interest for NSW Parliament,the Judiciary, the
Courts, Police, victims, witnesses, accused persons and other stakeholders in the criminal justice system and
the community.

Primary purpose of the role


This is an administrative role which involves the delivery of high quality clerical support such as word
processing, brief preparation, data entry, records maintenance and other administrative functions that support
the provision of an efficient and effective prosecution service.

Key accountabilities
 Provide general administrative and word processing support including registration of new matters,
updating court results and brief and file preparation and maintenance.
 Liaise with lawyers, police and court staff to ensure the efficient and effective processing of information
in relation to cases involving the ODPP.
 Maintain the records management system to ensure that current and past files are stored and retrieved
in an efficient and timely manner.
 Provide quality customer and reception service by responding to enquiries professionally and in a
timely manner.

 Determine work priorities to ensure competing deadlines and demands are met and to ensure
diplomacy and sensitivity when dealing with all stakeholders. Recording information in an environment
where the accuracy of those records is essential.
 Working with a diverse group of people, which may include contact with distressed victims of matters
being prosecuted by the Office. Act confidentially and ethically in relation to any public attention or
scrutiny.
 Exposure to traumatic material and events relating to criminal matters, which may heighten the risk of
developing vicarious trauma.

The position requires administration experience in a legal or professional environment.

Advanced word processing and data entry skills.
