Essay: Answer the following questions briefly but precisely.

1. How do you describe the Indigenous arts in the Philippines?


Answer:
Indigenous Philippine art is art made by the indigenous peoples of the
Philippines. It includes works in raw materials such as extract from trees, fruits,
and vegetables. Some of the art treasure of the Philippines is found in rock in
caves, trees and woods.

2. What makes Filipino’s arts differs from other arts in the world?
Answer:
The Filipino’s art is differing from other art in the world because our art
works in the Philippines is unique from other countries, it shows our culture and
traditions that we have. The Filipino’s art is really differing from other arts in the
world because it is our lifestyle and historical symbolisms engraved in our art that
only the painter that depicts and us Filipinos who could truly understand.

3. If you are a Filipino artist, what kind of arts you would like to develop? Why?
Answer:
If I will be given a chance it would the architecture because the houses, I
want for everyone in our country are the “Bahay Kubo” or also known as the Nipa
hut is a kind of stilt house of the indigenous Filipino people which became a
symbolic icon of the Philippines. A Bahay Kubo is a symbol of our culture as it
depicts the most nurtured Filipino value of called ‘‘bayanihan,’’ which attributes to
a spirit of collective unity or effort to accomplish an objective.

4. What is GAMABA Awards?


Answer:
The word GAMABA stands for GAWAD SA MANLILIKHA NG BAYAN
(National Living Treasures). It is an award given to recognize the outstanding
work of the artists in the Philippines. The given award was established in 1992
through Republic Act No. 7355 until 2012. There were thirteen finest folk artists
of the land who have received this distinction for their dedication in creating the
craft, using skills, and indigenous methods and materials.

5. Do you think that “Tattooing” as a form of art should be promoted? Why and why
not?
Answer:
I think it should be promoted because some people it is their way of
expressing their feelings. Some people are having tattoos with a face of their love
ones. It should also really be promoted because tattooing was one of our
traditions back then and it is very important when I see tattoos it symbolizes our
ancestors.
