1. Scope
This procedure in compliance to Control of Substance Hazardous to Health (COSHH)
Regulation in aligning to BIAMP HSE Plan section no. 21.3 page no. 46 (Site Specific
Hazardous Substance and Materials) is applicable to all hazards substances stored and use at
BIA site.
2. Introduction
2.2. The symbols shown above are the most frequently encountered and will be located on
the substance packaging / container. SONMEZ shall ensure that the requirements of this
standard are applied to all such labelled substances / materials.
2.3. To ensure the safe handling, storage and use of hazardous substances, SONMEZ shall
appoint a trained storekeeper or personnel. The hazards substances/ chemicals storekeeper
shall oversee the unloading, storage, issue to site and disposal of hazardous substances. The
assigned personnel/storekeeper must be COSHH trained and aware about site emergency
protocol.

2.4. COSHH storekeeper will control the use, handling, transportation and storage of
hazardous substances to reduce the associated health risks. The requirements of this
standard are the minimum standards permitted.
2.5. Contact details with photo of chemical handling personnel shall be displayed at storage
area of hazards substances. Chemicals to be issued only to trained and authorized personnel
with all precautions as listed on MSDS for handling, use & site temporary storage.
3. Handling, Storage and Use of Hazardous Substances
The principles within this procedure are to ensure that all hazardous substances and
processes are suitably and sufficiently assessed, as to their potential risk to health, to
eliminate, control and protect both the health of employees, contractors, visitors and the
environment.
In order that employees and other people and the environment to be protected from the
associated risk or who may be affected by exposure to these substances. Hereby below are
the following requirements of COSHH to be applied, considered, implemented reasonably
and practicably wherever handling to be carried out, of these hazardous substance;
3.1 A copy of MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) will be provided and displayed to the
chemical store.
3.2 COSHH storekeeper shall control the dispensing and extracting of hazardous
substance.
3.3 Hazardous substance must be ensure stored properly and fitted with the
recommended decant hand pump for extraction purposes. Provided with adequate
lighting, ventilation, firefighting, Drip Tray for secondary containment during leakage
and contact person details for any emergency situation.
3.4 Workers exposed from these substances shall be equipped with adequate PPE’s as
per MSDS required.
3.5 Rug cottons, spill kit and eye wash shall be available all the times for any emergency
preparedness.
3.6 Disposal of waste hazardous substance shall be disposed according to ATJV waste
management system (Chemical Skip Waste) & site plan.
3.7 Reporting of any accident/incident/spillage if any, has to be communicated to the
relevant personnel as per BIA emergency protocol/ flow chart.
3.8 Emergency Response Team shall be called upon in case of any incidents.
3.9 Acceptable storage methods are detailed below.

4. Training/Awareness
Increasing the awareness of both operatives and supervisory staff, specific training shall be
given base on the demand concerning to related issues of COSHH and weekly tool box talk
shall be held regularly. Topic to be discussed specifically on warehouse management; Proper
storage of materials (handling and its usage), Fire Fighting equipment’s arrangements,
COSHH awareness and PPE’s compliance as per MSDS.
