Why do you think Mariana endured her bullies?

Based on the short story Mariana by Erni Aladjai, I think the reason why Mariana endured her
bullies is because she is afraid of her father and she does not want to shame him as he works as
the school janitor at her daughter’s elementary school. This can be seen in the story when
Mariana was pleading for help as her sister got struck by his father when her sister’s
disappearance during the photograph session made the teacher call out for his father at the
teacher’s lounge threatening him to withhold her daughter’s report card as well as her graduate
certificate. As a consequence,Mariana would be so terrified to tell her daunting father about her
bullies as he might assume that Mariana got some issues with her school friends. Furthermore,
assuming that Mariana is a timid and quiet girl in her class makes me believe why she endured
her bullies.For instance,she is described to be scribbling in her notebook by the boy who is the
son of the school teacher who taught Bahasa Indonesia at the school. This has vividly shown that
Mariana is always by herself at the school, off guard with no friends around her as of why she
always keeps herself occupied with her own activities in class. In addition, Mariana’s own
classmates were all mischievous and playful. This makes me believe that she is a selective
person when it comes about who she wants to mingle with as friends would surely influence your
attitude at school.

In two columns, write what do you liked about the story and what you did not like about the story.

There are a few things that I like in the story. There are a few things that I do not like in the
Mariana’s attitude of not giving a care of story which is firstly the behaviour of the boy
what people said toward her amazed me. She who is known as the son of the Bahasa
portrays an unaffected side of her which gives Indonesia teacher at the school. Throughout
off the impression of her being scared of her the whole story he is seen to keep himself all
friends. Her astonishing attitude brings her the quiet and only keep his eyes on Mariana from
most unique and outstanding person over all afar without any actions when she is in need
pupils in school. She makes me believe that of help. For instance, when he heard all the
kindness if found within and it glows criticisms thrown at Mariana, he did not back
everywhere you go. Although there would be her up for the sake of that he was afraid that
hate and bullies thrown at you, that does not they would assume he had feelings for her
mean you can never be one. Mariana also which sounds illogic to me because a friend in
portrays being a strong girl in life in whatever need is someone that we should lend a hand to
challenges come into her life. Thus ,I have help no matter what the circumstances are.
learnt that I should be like Mariana too.
