Text 1:
A farmer came across a bird with a broken wing. He picked it up, took it home and looked
after it lovingly, even though his wife complained bitterly about his wasting too much time on
the creature.
After some time, the wing mended and, because the bird did not want the farmer to have
kept on arguing with his wife all the time, it decided to go back to its nest.
When the farmer discovered that the bird was gone, he was so upset that he went out to
look for it. Eventually, he found it again, and was greeted happily by the whole family of the
bird. As a sign of their thanks for his care and attention, the birds gave him a little box, and told

To his surprise, the farmer found the box full of precious stones. When his wife saw them,

Once upon a time, there lived a group mice under a tree in peace. However, a group of elephants

step-sisters. She had to do all the household chores.
One day the king invited all the ladies in the kingdom to go to a ball (pesta dansa) in the palace.

The step sisters went to the ball that night with their mother. Cindrella was left alone. She cried

Faster planes and cheaper flights

Faster planes and cheaper flights are making it easier than ever before for people to travel. In the
most 'developed' societies, visiting exotic places is a sought-after status symbol. The tourism
industries of both developed and developing countries have recognised this fact and are learning
to take advantage of it.

There are, however, some problems associated with this new industry. Firstly, there is the
increasing crime rate. Some local's tourists as an easy prey because, not only are they in
unfamiliar territory and therefore less able to take care of themselves, but also they carry visible
items of wealth, such as cameras and jewelery which can be disposed of quickly for profit.

Another major problem is health. With greater mobility comes greater danger of spreading

Students’ Cheating

Students’ cheating is one of the biggest problems faced by teachers nowadays.

Despite the fact that teachers advise their students not to do dishonest acts during tests, some
students still do cheating. There are many kinds of cheating that students do during the test or
examination, such as looking other students’ work, put some notes under their clothes, write
notes or formulas on their desks make hand signals or go to rest rooms to get the answers from
their friends.

In my view, students who do cheating are committing a crime. It is a sort of taking something

of paper. If this awful habit continues, the students will lose their opportunity to develop their

Most people agree that the family planning program is desirable for the good of family and society.
But individuals and religious groups differ sharply on the methods of birth control that they consider
moral and acceptable.
Couples that practice birth control do so for various reasons. They may want to limit or space their
children, or to have no children at all. Young couples often postpone having children so that both partners
can work full-time. Other couples space their children so they can give each as much attention as

have known Janet since she was a student in my course in Synoptic
and Dynamic Meteorology last fall. Janet distinguished herself in my

accomplishment only scratches the surface of her ability and
character. Janet is the type of person who loves learning. She’s one of

The electric torch or flash light

A flash light or an electric torch is a hand-held

portable electrically-powered light source.
It is commonly used for finding keyholes,
supplementing to dark-adapted vision, o helping you
find your way when walking in the dark.
The electric torch was invented in 1902 by
Conrad Hubert, who was also known as Akiba
Horowitz.
A typical flashlight consists of a light bulb
mounted in a reflector, a transparent cover to protect
the light source and reflector, a battery, and a
switch. These are supported and protected by a
plastic case.
The central part of a torch is the battery. The
bottom of the bulb rests on the positive terminal of
the battery. The zinc case of the battery forms the
negative terminal. The negative terminal of the
battery is connected to the switch by a brass strip.
Another brass strip runs from the switch to the metal
case of the bulb.
The bulb contains a very thin wire called a
filament. The filament, is made of a tungsten alloy,
is enclosed in a vacuum. The filament rests on two
glass columns. Two wires pass through the columns
and the whole assembly is enclosed in a thin glass
envelope.

process of organism’s growth, particularly
bacteria. Antibiotic is used to treat bacterial
infections and used as a tool for genetic
