DIRECTOR JACK DEVEAU
Jack Deveau was the president of
Hand In Hand Films, probably
home the most well-regarded "all-male
cast" studio in the 1970's
blog (Studflix called him the "master
of narrative gay porn"). Director
pornology of the following films, you will
also see his name as producer of
directors
many others, directed by the
likes of Tom DeSimone, Peter de
Arthur Bressan, Rome, and Arch Brown; as well
Jr. as an occasional "acting" role
(like in Adam and Yves). He got
Arch Brown his start in the business after his lover, Bob Alvarez (already working in commercial
film, and who would edit all of Jack's films), and pal Sal Mineo tried talking him into it.
Peter De Rome Mineo took Jack to a production meeting for an upcoming film of his, and after Jack
heard the film executives say "some of the dumbest things" he'd ever heard, he knew he
Tom DeSimone could do better! Deveau died in 1982 of lung cancer.
Jack Deveau Left-Handed (1972)
Story about an antique dealer, his hustler boyfriend, and their pot dealer -- and the
Roger Earl relationships that ensue; Deveau's first film. Fantastic trippy opening sequence. Basic
plot is about a gay man who seduces a straight man, and how the realtionship develops
Francis Ellie
from the "traditional" role of the gay man as "bottom", and how the roles reverse as the
Joe Gage film progresses, to the point of the straight man getting into gay orgy scenes. Includes
one str8 sex scene. Unfortunately, the brief fisting scene is "blurred" in the video
Joe Gage - 21st version (which, of course, is better than what was done in L.A. Plays Itself, chopping
century videos the fisting scene almost completely out of the video version altogether!). Left Handed
opened in 1972 at Manhattan's notorious all-male showcase, the 55th Street Playhouse.
Fred Halsted Ray Frank, Robert Rika, and Larry Burns; plus: Al Mineo (hmmm), Bob Williams, Teri
Reardon, Alex Marks, and Warren Mans
Wakefield Poole Strickly Forbidden (1974)
Made in France, a young man goes to an art museum where he stumbles upon a
Al Parker "forbidden" private collection. He sneaks in after hours to see it, and the erotic male
statues come to life and guide him through various sex acts. Allegedly there is some
Steve Scott
footage from inside the Musee Rodin! Stars Thomas Jeffries; museum statuers: Hugh
contact me Allen, Big Bill Eld, Daniel Novan, Alain Queret, Robert L Clerc, Paul McFleet, Jean-
Pierre; museum guard: Gene Kelton; second student Daniel Mesplet, and Jack Deveau
as "Monsier". (Also called Le Musee , may have been illegally released in Europe in
1976 under that name.) Original music by Didier Vasseur (sounds like moog
synthesizer, but I could be wrong).
Drive (1974)
The title refers both to the male sexual drive and to the fact that the hero of the movie is
always tooling around Manhattan in a Lamborghini; and a villainess drag queen who
tries to rid men of their sex drives! Sounds amazing, with a screenplay by Christopher
Rage (who also, in drag, plays the villainess Arachne) with over 50 people in the cast -
Starring: Mary Jim Sstunning (a.k.a. Christopher Rage) as Arachne; Mark Luna, Mark

Woodward, Peter de Rome, Peter Fersen, Shawn Roberts, Michael Corrigan, Frank
Ventgen, Brian Destazio, Richard Abel, Jack Brusca, Harvey Shamber, Jaap Penraat,
Stan Glinter, S.V. Newman, and John Fromme - In the disco: Freeman Freeman, Chris
Ritter, Avery Addison, Bill Gillers, Steven Sampson, Bill Fitter, Jim Case, Ted Valkus,
Renfroe Meyer, Lorrenzo Lasalle, Arch Fairbanks, Denny Mans, Arch Hilborn, Ray
Frank, Chris Mobley, Al Kelms; In the Steamroon: Marty Marks, Rusty Lewis, Tray
Christopher, Nick Shulman, Paul Turley, Rober Alvarez, Clif Dover, Jack Deveau,
Mark Sayles, Joe Gun, Seth Poole; In the Locked Room: George Culver, W. Grippo,
Marvin Desimone, John Willard, Paul Conaway, Frederick C. Mongue II; In the
Dungeon: Curtis Brtown, Carlyle Taylor, Cal Mansour, Kenric Hawley, Joaquin Mineo,
Richard Morrisey; In the Water Bucket: Harold Reardon, and Under the Blade:
Kenric Brown.
Ballet Down the Highway (1975)
A dancer's life is disrupted by an affair with a truck driver.
Deveau's lover Robert Alvarez (who often was editor of
Deveau's films) in a rare role in front of the camera. Garry
Hunt is great as the truck driver, who falls for the rather
aloof ballet dancer. With Henk Van Dijk (the dancer), Jeff
Sullivan, ("and 30 others!" the box boasts!)
Good Hot Stuff (1975)
A behind-the-scenes look at how Hand In Hand made
porno films, along with some scenes of the studio's
releases. Released in France as Histoires D'Hommes, it was
the first hardcore gay film released there.
Wanted: Billy the Kid (1976)
An actor ("Mr. Bare America" winner Dennis Walsh)
supplements his income by earning needed cash as a
hustler. My favorite scene is when he "pays the rent". The
non-sex scenes between Billy and his best friend are great -
they even do a decent reading from Cat On A Hot Tin Roof! (she's also an aspiring
actor) also starring Compton Payne (Business Man), Megan Ross (Karen, Billy's best
friend), Peter Thadliski (Angelo - the "super"), John Meyers (Brian, the photographer),
Darc Traid (Moses), Ron Leigh (Mark), Rene' (as Beverly), John Tyme (as Doug),
Larry Marsland (as the dentist), Mark Ekwell as the Thai Chi instructor; and in the Thai
Chi class: Bob Mulare, Geoffrey Welch, Gakin Mantis, Steve Eberhart, Bob Alvarez,
and Mark Woodward (cameramen Deveau and Tom DeSimone, editor Robert Alvarez)
- Theme song "I'll Be Your Mirror" by David Earnest and Moose 100 <82 min>
Rough Trades (1977)
After some criticism of too much plot, not enough sex in his films, this was Jack's
answer: A film involving "blue collar" guys having sex with each other, and the owner
of a New York penthouse that they are working on. Hugh Allen, David Gorsky, Myles
Longue (aka Ed Wiley), Bobby Cruz, Rit Young, and Steve Dory. Unfortunately, the
Bijou Video release has blurred the fisting scene of phone repairman Gorsky, as well as
Gorsky's scene in the elevator with the delivery boy (and his vegetables!) - even if it's
not your "thing" it's actually a very well-filmed scene, natural lighting, unimposing
jazzy 70's porn music (not like some of those modern videos that look more like a
medical training movie!) .

Hot House (1977)
Roger and Jack Wrangler star in this comical tale of frustration as two horny men try to
find privacy in a New York apartment that is invaded by drunken painters, crabby
janitors, and neighbors who have lost their keys. Supposed to be Roger's best
performance (it's his first onscreen). Roger and Garry Hunt are watching a black and
white porno movie (courtesy of Norman Fisher - Joe Dallesandro in this "film within a
film" scene, originally made in the 60's where he sucks, fucks, etc). With Jayson
MacBride, and Garry Hunt, David Hunter, Eric Streiff, and in a non-sexual role Tray
Christopher (Chris Rage's voice as M.J. Stunning, a radio D.J.).
Sex Magic (1977)
A magic ring makes the wearer's wishes and dreams come true. Opens with Roger
whacking off, as Egyptian King Osorkon II, wearing the "ring of pleasure" (this scene
re-appears in A Night At The Adonis). Some 3000 years later, Roger (this time as Bo
Geste) is a construction worker who finds the ring while digging through rubble in
Manhattan. Putting on the ring makes him irresistable to str8 co-worker Mandingo, and
soon they are in the construction hut, Roger ripping open the back of Mandingo's white
union suit... you get the idea. Later, at home, Roger tries relaxing by playing a "hot talk
tape", and the voice comes alive - hunky window washer Jack Wrangler jerks off
outside his apartment window (yes, he's strapped on outside, 17th floor, his cock
hanging out, as he actually alternates scrubbing the window and whacking his dick). Of
course he lets himself in and bends over for Roger - both their bodies look fantastic!
Afterwards, while leaning out the window, Roger drops the ring. Oddly, he's on West
93rd St, but the next scene shows AWOL'er Tony Rusca picking up the ring from the
curb outside the Times Square Howard Johnson before going inside. Once inside, he
calls home to discuss coming out with his mother (she's all for it) then a knock at the
door - 2 Sergeants arrive to take Rusca back to the Army (but not before a hot 3-way on
the couch). Lastly, Big Bill Eld arrives in the same room, the bellhop shows him the
room, turns on the TV ( we hear Whatever Happened to Baby Jane dialogue), and
leaves with the magic ring. Moments later he is called back to the room so Eld can give
him a tip - actually, the whole thing - all of his famously massive meat. Starring Jack
Wrangler and Roger; plus Mandingo, Big Bill Eld, Jason MacBride, Tony Rusca, Lee
Foster ; introducing Tom Trooper. (off-screen voices: Phone operators = Jim Delegatti,
Mrs Lucille Sharmat = B Lackey, Narration = Kees Chapman, who was also camerman
and mixer); Written By Moose 100, editing of course by Bob Alvarez.
Dune Buddies (1978)
A New York City teacher (Malo)needs to get away from the constant cruising and pick-
ups of Manhattan by taking a month at the beach - Fire Island! With Matt Harper,
D.(Paolo) Gorsky, Larry Paige, Hugh Allen, Pepe Brazil, Gary Hunt, and of course,
Myles Longue (his real name, no doubt). Written by Moose 100.
A Night at the Adonis (1978)
Fantastic film. Starts off with a young man
starting a job at The Adonis, a job he got
through his college's placement office! - while
dozens line up outside waiting for it to open.
Jack Wrangler can't get into his boss's (Malo)
pants, so he "settles" for a day at the Adonis. A
"kept man" who's lover is too inattentive, winds
up at The Adonis re-thinking their relationship.
After a haircut (and more) from Jayson

MacBride, Malo winds up at the Adonis. Sex on
the screen, sex in the seats, sex in the bathroom.
Jayson MacBride in a hot scene with Jack
Wrangler. Great bathroom orgy scene. Written
by Moose 100. Stars Jack Wrangler, Jayson
MacBride, Geraldo, Tommy Ruscica, Malo, Big
Al Little, Keith Strickland, Chris Michaels, Todd Tavers, Paul Maul, Eartha Hugee (the
ticket booth lady), Robert A. Glory, and Victor Williams. Plus Bill ELd, Lee Foster,
Roger, and Mandingo (in scenes from Sex Magic) Myles Longue (whacking off in a
scene from Narcissus II)and Mark Woodward (in a scene from Bagdad). And would a
great porn film be complete without a bit of Sylvester playing in the background?
Fire Island Fever (1979)
Two lovers decide to try for an open relationship during their vacation in Cherry Grove;
jealousies, LSD laced tea going to the wrong guy (Garry Hunt, involving a great trippy
sequence featuring Matt Harper), and plenty of sex, of course. Larry Paige, John Carlo,
Garry Hunt, Chris Michaels, Hugh Allen, Matt Harper (aka Will Seagers), David
Littler, and Pepe Brazil; plus George, Frank, Johnny, and Juanita.
Just Blonds (1979)
Young man (Ken Carter)leaves home, and on his first night encounters 3 horny men -
Scorpio, Lee Marlin and Eric Ryan - more LSD in this one! Luke (from Falcon
Studios), Lee Marlin (from Nova Studios), Scorpio, Hugh Allen, Damien III, Ken
Carter (from Nova Studios), and Eric Ryan; cameraman: Kees Chapman; music, Didier
Vasseur
The Boys From Riverside Drive (1981)
After 2 lovers quarrel during thier 1st anniversary dinner, a series of silly, but fun
vignettes involving getting locked out of the apartment, telegraph boys, ex-lovers, etc,
all, of course, involving sex. Includes a nice intro into the film with Jack Wrangler and
Malo. Starring Buddy Preston, David Dion, George Brown, Luke, and Lee Marlin.
Times Square Strip (1982)
Iowa farm boy gets job as stripper in New York's Gaiety Theater in Times Square. Sex
scenes and dance numbers! Peter Lopez, Luke, Jack Moore, Buddy Preston, Jerry
Overton, Tony West, and Richard Lang (MC); Jason Jacobi, David Dion, Nick
Fordham, George Sardi, Plato Pastel, Dale Caesar, Robert Glory. Camerman: Kees
Chapman; Music from: Prime Cuts The Double Dance Album; Written by: Moose 100

his penis, and jacks off to orgasm! (the other shorts were directed by Peter de Rome and
Tom DeSimone).
In Heat (1984/5) Film consists of
5 segments, Deveau directed the first
2 , the other 3 directed by Bob
Alvarez and Peter de Rome; all of
which were shot in New York City,
