At the end of the lesson the students will be able to:

1. Identify the Basic Steps in Salakot Dance


2. Perform/Execute the Basic Steps in Salakot Dance
3. Determine the importance of the proper execution of each Steps

Yes, Folkdance and that is our topic for today.

Folkdances are dances that are developed by


people that reflect the life of the people of
certain county or region. Not all ethnic dances
are folkdances or dances of ritual origin are
not considered to be folk dances. Ritual dances
are usually called “Religious dances” because
of their purpose.
The examples of FOLKDANCE are
CARIÑOSA, TINIKLING, PANDANGO SA ILAW AT
SALAKOT DANCE.

This morning class, I am going to teach you


the Basic steps in Salakot Dance.

Sayaw sa Salakot

A dance where young girls of the village show


off their colorful farm hats. the salakot is a
wide brimmed hat which protects the Filipinos
from the heat of the sun and rain. In this
dances, the salakot is use to enhance the
dance figure and hand movements
Okay Sir!
Now , I’ll teach you the basic steps and figures
use in Salakot dance. Can you move your chairs
at the back to clear the big space in front for a
comfortable movement.

D. Explanation
 Change Step
( Students will follow )
A change of weight from one foot to another with at
least one foot remaining in contact with the floor
throughout the change ( execute )
( Students will follow )
 Sway Balanced with a point

(step, cross-step, step, point )( execute ) ( Students will follow )

 Waltz step

Step on the lead foot, step with the other foot, bring
the lead foot to the trailing foot (with a change of
weight). Usually danced in a series, repeating the action ( Students will follow )
with the opposite footwork. Most often, the waltz is
danced smoothly and lightly. (execute )

 Blecking
