<Symptom>
When using papers of rough surface, mottle blank may occur at the high-density area on images.
<Cause>
Unevenness of the paper surface causes a fault in secondary transfer, and the toner on the inter transfer belt
cannot be appropriately transferred.

<Factory Measures>
1.The thickness of the inter transfer belt (ITB) is reduced to improve the performance of
following uneven surface of paper.
Hereinafter the inter transfer belt is referred to as the ITB.
2.The primary transfer pressure (Bk) is decreased and the ITB tension pressure is increased.
New type:
Primary transfer spring (Bk) : Compression spring (FU8-2372-000)
ITB tension spring : Tension spring (FU8-2373-000)
3.Upgrade System Software to v34.05, DC controller to v23.02.
(Major changes)
a.The primary transfer current is optimized for the new-type, thin ITB.
b.Service mode for primary transfer current offset is added for each paper feeding speed.
(LEVEL2) COPIER > ADJUST > HV-TR
c.In System Software v34.05, service mode (ITB-TYPE) for the setting of change of
the DC controller PCB is added.

Implement the service work in accordance with the workflows [1] and [2] shown below.

According to Workflow [1], perform Measure (1).
If the level of density loss due to poor transfer is OK, the operation is complete.
If NG, go to 2nd Step, Work Flow [2].
<Measure 1>
1.Replace the ITB with the thin ITB.
The setting of the ITB set (FY7-0409-000) that comprises the parts and tools necessary for the ITB replacement
is newly made.
Components of the ITB set (FY7-0409-000):
-ITB
-ITB installation auxiliary sheet
-Compression spring (Bk primary transfer roller spring)
-Tension spring
-ITB Replacement Procedure: See the attached document below.
-Instruction sheet for attaching the ITB
2. Replace the tension spring of the ITB belt assembly to increase the spring pressure.
3. Replace the spring of the Bk primary transfer roller to decrease the spring pressure.
4. Install System Software v34.05 or later.
* When upgrading the old version to v34.05 or later in the field, the value of ITB-TYPE in service mode is "0".
When attaching the new-type ITB, enter "1" manually.
(LEVEL2) COPIER > OPTION > IMG-TR > ITB-TYPE

* When executing RAM clear for some reasons, the value of ITB-TYPE is "1" for the new-type thin ITB.

<Setting 1>
1-1. Setting of display for the items related to image adjustment in the initial setting (user mode)
Change service mode level 1 (Copier>OPTION>DSPLY-SW>IMGC-ADJ) from "0" to "1", and make the
setting to display the items related to image adjustment in the initial setting.
1-2. Registration of the setting of recycled paper of user paper (Lowering the fixing controlled temperature for
recycled paper)
Select, duplicate User mode / Login / Preferences / Paper Settings / Paper Type Management Settings / Recycled
(64 to 90gsm) and create a new media with a name.
2.Registration of user paper for each deck/cassette
In User Mode >Paper Setting, set the paper registered in '1-2. Registration of the setting of recycled paper of
user paper' for each deck/cassette.
3. Lowering the fixing controlled temperature
Change service mode level 1 (Copier>OPTION>IMG-FIX>TMP-ST1/ST2) as follows;

4. Decreasing the fixing controlled temperature uniformly for all paper types
Change service mode level 2 (Copier>OPTION>IMG-FIX>TMP-R1-1/2) as follows;
iR-ADV C9075PRO: -2 (-10 deg C)
iR-ADV C9065PRO/C7065/C7055: -1 (-5 deg C)
* For the recycled paper having been set, the above steps 1-2 and 4 decrease the controlled temperature by 2
steps.
<Setting 3>
5. Adjusting the secondary transfer voltage
In User mode / Login / Preferences / Paper Settings / Paper Type Management Settings, select the paper set in
step 1-2 and then 'Detail/Edit'.
Select 'Change' in 'Secondary Transfer Volt', and change the value to the secondary transfer current that
achieves an optimum image on the front and back sides. (Recommended adjustment range: -4 to +5)
* The adjustment value of the secondary transfer current of +6 or more may cause poor transfer or papers
sticking to the ITB due to too strong transfer on the second side of thin paper.
With the value of-3 or less, transfer is too weak and poor transfer may occur.
Acoordingly,the adjustment of the nalue -4 to +5 is recommended.

<Setting 1-1-2>
Registration of Recycled Paper Settings (Custom Type).
① Select Initial Settings > Administrator Mode Login > Preferences.
② Select Paper Settings.
③ Select Set Paper Type Management.
④ Select Recycled Paper 1 (64 to 90gsm), and press Duplicate.
⑤ Enter the name of new media.
⑥ With Set Paper Type Management, check that the new media has been registered.
<Setting 1-2>
Registration of Custom Type Paper for Deck and Cassette.
① Select Initial Settings > Administrator Mode Login > Preferences > Paper Settings.
② Select Paper Settings.
③ Select the Deck or Cassette to which custom type paper is registered, and press Set.
④ Press Set Details.
⑤ Select the new media created in <Measure 1-(2)>, and press OK.
⑥ Check that the name of paper has been changed.
<Setting 3-5>
Adjustment of the Secondary Transfer Voltage
① Select Initial Settings > Administrator Mode Login > Preferences.
② Select Paper Settings.
③ Select "Set Paper Type Management".
④ Select the paper specified in <Measure 1-(2)>, and press "Details/Edit".
⑤ Select Change in Secondary Transfer Voltage Adjustment.
⑥ Adjust the values for the 1st and 2nd side of paper.
ITB Replacement Procedure
1. Checking the Contents
[1] 2 Springs of Primary Transfer Roller (Bk) Shaft Support (Front/Rear) Unit
[2] 2 Springs of ITB Tension Lever Unit (Front/Rear)

[4] ITB Installation Auxiliary Sheet
Note:
The ITB is thinner than the existing ones, so it can be easily bent. Be sure to handle it with care not to
bend when working.
Note:
Addition to the procedure mentioned in service manual, step 21) through 58) mentioned in this document
has been added. Make sure to perform the additional procedure.
2. Installation Procedure
1) Open the Front Cover.
2) Remove the ITB Inner Cover C.

3) Turn the ITB Pressure Release Lever in the arrow direction.
4) Remove 2 screws on the ITB Frame.
Note: Note in the ITB Unit pressure
Tighten 2 screws on the ITB Frame to secure it first and turn the ITB Pressure Release Lever.
If the ITB Unit is not pressurized at specified position, the ITB Unit may be lifted up and damage the
ITB.

5) Hold the handle to pull out the Fixing Feed Unit. Press the 2 Release Springs at both sides of the rail
to release, and pull out the Fixing Feed Unit all the way.
Note:
Please do not release the Release Spring at the rear side of the both sides of the rail. Otherwise, the
frame of the Fixing Feed Unit disengages.
6) Hold the handle to pull out the ITB Unit. Press the 2 Release Springs at both sides of the rail to
release, and pull out the ITB Unit all the way.
Note:
Do not release the Release Spring at the rear side of both sides of the rail.
Otherwise, the ITB Unit disengages.
Note: Note at the ITB Unit storing
- Put back the handle of the ITB unit.
- Before put the Fixing Feed Unit in, Put the ITB Unit into the machine.
If the Fixing Feed Unit is pushed in when the ITB Unit is not pressurized, the Fixing Feed Unit
pushes up and may damage the ITB.
- Tighten 2 screws on the ITB Frame to secure the ITB Unit, and turn the ITB Pressure Release Lever.
If the ITB Unit is not pressurized at specified position, the ITB Unit may be lifted up and damage the
ITB.

7) Hold handles to move the ITB toward the rear side and release the projection. Remove the ITB Unit
upward.
Note:
Place the ITB Unit on a surface covered with a protective material such as a paper.
Note: Points to note at installation work
- Before placing the ITB Unit, Push the ITB Frame in and align the face [A] of the ITB pressure release
lever with the face [B] of the cover in the fixing feed unit. If the abovementioned face alignment is not
performed, the ITB Unit steps on the Secondary Transfer Unit and this may damage the ITB when the
ITB put in the machine.
- Align right edge and left edge of the ITB Unit Front Plate with 2 engraved marks on the ITB frame,
and put the ITB Unit horizontally

- After placing it, check that the right edge of the ITB Unit Front Plate is on the right hand side of
bending part on the right sheet metal of the ITB Frame.
- Check that the bending part on the left edge of the ITB Unit Front Plate shall be on the bending part
of the sheet metal on the left side of the ITB Frame.
- Check that the edge of the ITB Pressure Arm and the groove of the ITB Frame are aligned. When they
are not aligned, the Pressure does not transmit to the ITB Unit after putting in.
- Be sure to release the ITB Pressure Release Lever (horizontal position) when storing the ITB Unit in
the main body. If the lever is not released (vertical position) and turned after storing in the main body,
the ITB Unit cannot be pressured. If the machine is operated with this condition, E007 (Belt
displacement error) will occur.

8) Remove the ITB Cleaning Blade Unit.
Note: Note at disassembling and assembling
- Do not remove the ITB Cleaning Unit in order to prevent the ITB Cleaning Blade from being
damaged when removing/ Installing the ITB Cleaning Blade Unit
- Do not damage the ITB. Otherwise, it may cause an abnormality on an output image.
9) Remove the ITB Cleaning Unit.
Note: Note to prevent scattering of the waste toner
- Place a paper under the removed ITB Cleaning Unit
- Do not put the removed ITB Cleaning Unit upside down.
- Do not damage the ITB by hitting the ITB Cleaning Unit.
10) Place the ITB Unit vertically.
Note:
- Do not damage the ITB. It may cause abnormality on an output image
- Face the ITB Unit Front Side Plate toward a floor and place the ITB Unit vertically.

11) Remove the Secondary Transfer Inlet Upper Guide in the arrow direction.
Note:
Do not damage the ITB by hitting the Secondary Transfer Inlet Upper Guide.
MEMO :
1 screw is used to tighten with a ground.
MEMO :
For easier installation of the Secondary Transfer Inlet Upper Guide, align with 2 boss holes first, and
insert 2 projections of the Primary Transfer Inlet Upper Guide to the ITB Unit.
12) Remove the ITB Unit Rear Right Small Sheet Metal.

13) Place the ITB Unit horizontally.
14) Turn the ITB Tension Lever in the arrow direction to release the ITB
15) Place the ITB Unit vertically.
16) Turn the handle of the ITB Unit toward the side plate.
17) Hold the edges of the ITB, and remove upward.
Note: Note at the handling of the ITB
- Hold the ITB within 10mm from the both edges. This is to prevent the image area on the ITB from
touching
- On the ITB, do not make any fold and damage
- Place the ITB on a paper

Note: Note at the handling of the ITB Unit
Do not touch the surface of the ITB Drive Roller, the Secondary Transfer Inner Roller, the ITB
Steering Roller, and the Primary Transfer Roller.
Otherwise, it may cause the image failure.
18) Open the Bushing (Front) Cover and the Bushing (Rear) Cover while pressing the projections.
Note: Note at the work
- Do not touch the surface of the Primary Transfer Roller. Otherwise, it may cause the image failure.
- Do not damage the ITB Supporting Sheets

19) Hold the shaft of the Primary Transfer Roller at the front side, and push the bushing to remove the
shaft at one side of the Primary Transfer Roller.
20) Remove the Primary Transfer Roller in the arrow direction.
MEMO:
If the ITB Inner Surface Scraper Holder is a new one, it must be removed before removing the Shaft Support (Front) Unit
and the Shaft Support (Rear) Unit Be sure to perform the work by referring to the procedure for the old and new parts of
the ITB Inner Surface Scraper Holder.
・In the case that the ITB Inner Surface Scraper Holder is the old parts: step 21
・In the case that the ITB Inner Surface Scraper Holder is the new parts: step 21A-1 through 21A-5
21) Remove the Shaft Support (Front) Unit.

When removing the Arm Shaft in step 24, the Shaft Support and the spring may come out and be lost due
to repulsion of spring. To prevent it happens, be sure to secure the Shaft Support (Front) Cover in place
with the claw in this step.
23) Pinch the claw of the Arm Shaft with nippers, and push it to the rear side to remove the claw.
24) Remove the Arm and the Arm Shaft.

25) Open the Shaft Support (Front) Cover while holding the Shaft Support and the spring.

Note:
Be sure to hold the Shaft Support and the spring when opening the Shaft Support (Front) Cover because
the Shaft Support and the spring may come out and be lost due to repulsion of spring.
26) Remove the Shaft Support and the spring.
Note:
Due to separate delivery of new/old parts, the spring of Primary Transfer Roller (Bk) Shaft Support Unit
included in the package has red lines on its surface.
Be sure to install the correct one.
27) Install the spring of Primary Transfer Roller (Bk) Shaft Support (Front) Unit included in the package
by aligning it with the cross-shaped boss of the Shaft Support Holder.
28) Install the Shaft Support removed in step 26 by aligning the protrusion of it with the groove of the
Shaft Support Holder (Front).
29) Close the Shaft Support (Front) Cover.

30) Install the Arm and the Arm Shaft removed in step 24 in reverse order.
31) Close the Shaft Support (Rear) Cover.

Note:
When removing the Arm Shaft in step 34, the Shaft Support and the spring may come out and be lost due
to repulsion of spring. To prevent it happens, be sure to secure the Shaft Support (Rear) Cover in place
with the claw in this step.
32) Remove the Shaft Support (Rear) Unit.

Be careful not to pull the harness connected to the Shaft Support (Rear) Unit too much; otherwise, it may
cause open circuit.
33) Pinch the claw of the Arm Shaft with nippers, and push it to the rear side to remove the claw.

35) Open the Shaft Support (Rear) Cover while holding the Shaft Support and the spring.

36) Remove the Shaft Support and the spring.

37) Install the spring of Primary Transfer Roller (Bk) Shaft Support (Rear) Unit included in the package
by aligning it with the cross-shaped boss of the Shaft Support Holder.
38) Install the Shaft Support removed in step 36 by aligning the protrusion of it with the groove of the
Shaft Support Holder (Rear).
39) Close the Shaft Support (Rear) Cover.
- 1 Claw
40) Install the Arm and the Arm Shaft removed in step 34 in reverse order.
41) Install the Shaft Support (Rear) Unit to the ITB Unit removed in step 32 in reverse order.
42) Install the Shaft Support (Front) Unit to the ITB Unit removed in step 21 in reverse order.
MEMO:
If the ITB Inner Surface Scraper Holder is a new one, it must be installed after installing the Shaft Support (Front) Unit
and the Shaft Support (Rear) Unit. Be sure to perform the work by referring to the procedure for the old and new parts of
the ITB Inner Surface Scraper Holder.
・In the case that the ITB Inner Surface Scraper Holder is the old parts: step 21
・In the case that the ITB Inner Surface Scraper Holder is the new parts: step 21A-5 through 21A-1
43) Open the Bushing (Front) Cover and the Bushing (Rear) Cover while pressing the projections.
Note: Note at the work
- Do not touch the surface of the Primary Transfer Roller. Otherwise, it may cause the image failure.
- Do not damage the ITB Supporting Sheets

44) Insert the end of the Primary Transfer Roller (Bk) removed in step 20 to the Shaft Support of the
Shaft Support (Rear) Unit.
45) Install the Primary Transfer Roller by pushing the shafts at front and rear sides of the roller into the
Shaft Supports from above.
Note: Points to Note When Installing the Primary Transfer Roller
Be sure to push the shafts at front and rear sides of the Primary Transfer Roller into the Shaft Support
from above. If click sound is not heard at that time, reinstall the roller.
46) Close the Shaft Support (Front) Cover and the Shaft Support (Rear) Cover.
- 2 Claws

47) Turn the ITB Tension Lever in the direction of the arrow.
MEMO:
To make the removal of spring easier, pressure is applied to the ITB by turning the ITB Tension Lever in
this step.
48) Remove the spring while holding the end of it with nippers and extending it.
- 2 Hooks
Note:
Due to separate delivery of new/old parts, the spring of ITB Tension Lever Unit included in the package
has red lines on its surface.
Be sure to install the correct one.

49) Hold the end of the spring (front side) of ITB Tension Lever Unit included in the package with nippers,
and hook the ring at the other end to the hook.
50) Hook the spring while holding the end of it with nippers and extending it.
51) Set up the ITB Unit by turning rear side of it upward.
52) Remove the spring while holding the end of it with nippers and extending it.
- 2 Hooks
Note:
Due to separate delivery of new/old parts, the spring of ITB Tension Lever Unit included in the package
has red lines on its surface.
Be sure to install the correct one.

53) Hold the end of the spring (rear side) of ITB Tension Lever Unit included in the package with nippers,
and hook the ring at the other end to the hook.
54) Hold the end of spring wit nippers, and hook it to the hook while extending the spring.
Note:
Be sure to check visually from a hole on the Side Plate of the ITB Unit whether the end of spring is
hooked to the hook.
55) Turn the ITB Tension Lever in the direction of the arrow.
MEMO:
To install ITB to the ITB Unit, pressure is released from the ITB by turning the ITB Tension Lever in this
step.

56) Cover the ITB Unit with the ITB Installation Auxiliary Sheet included in the package to make the
folded slant area of the sheet comes upper side of the ITB Drive Roller.
Note:
- The ITB is thinner than the existing ones, so it can be easily bent. Be sure to handle it with care not to
bend when working.
- Be sure to hold within 10mm from both edges of the ITB. It is for not to touch the image area of the ITB.
57) Hold the end of the ITB included in the package, and install it to the ITB Unit (when installing it, be
sure that the ITB Installation Auxiliary Sheet comes inner circumference of the ITB).
Note: Points to note at ITB installation work
- ITB of this machine needs to be installed in proper direction.Install the ITB so that the white sheet
attached inside of ITB can face upward.

58) Remove the ITB Installation Auxiliary Sheet.

- Install the ITB, and bring 3 ITB Supporting Sheets at bottom over the surface of ITB without folding the
ITB Supporting Sheets.

- Ensure to bring the end of the ITB Position Flag over the ITB.

- Align the center of the ITB with the centers of the right and left rollers on the ITB Unit to install the

- To prevent suddenly applying tension to the ITB, hold the ITB tension lever and the Stopper Cam at the
rear with both hands, and turn slowly.
- After returning the ITB Tension Lever from the ITB tension lever pressuring, hang the Stopper Cam to
the shaft at the rear side of the ITB Unit to lock, and check a click sound.
59) Install the removed parts and units in reverse order by referring to step 9 through 16,
and install the ITB Cleaning Unit to the ITB Unit.

60) After installing the ITB Cleaning Unit to the ITB Unit, apply lubricant (FY9-6007-000) to the
application area on the ITB surface in the longitudinal direction (1 reciprocation). (Execute this step
without the ITB Cleaning Blade Unit being installed.)
CAUTION: Target application area is to be the area surrounded by the application width as shown below.
Application area
- Application width in the longitudinal direction is shorter than the width of the Primary Transfer Roller.
Be careful not to apply lubricant to the outside of the Primary Transfer Roller width.
Target: Between the point approx. 35mm inside the ITB Unit Rear Plate and the point approx. 35mm
inside the ITB Unit Front Plate.
- The application width in the belt's rotation direction is between the Primary Transfer Roller (Y) and ITB
Driver Roller.
Target: Between the point of the Primary Transfer Roller (Y) Shaft Support (Front/Rear) Cover edge and

CAUTION: Points to Note when Applying Lubricant (FY9-6007-000)
- Be careful not to apply lubricant to the outside of the application width in the longitudinal direction.
- When lubricant is applied outside the application area, be sure to wipe with lint-free paper moistened
with alcohol.
61) Turn the ITB Drive Motor clockwise manually to turn the ITB until lubricant applied on the ITB is
covered by the ITB Cleaning Unit Scoop-up Sheet. (The applied lubricant passes through the ITB
Cleaning Unit Scoop-up Sheet.)
CAUTION:
Be sure to turn the ITB Drive Motor counterclockwise only and be careful not to turn it clockwise.

62) Install the removed parts and unit in reverse order by referring to step 8 through 1,and return to the
main body.
63) Turn ON the power of the host machine.
3. Adjustment after replacement
Perform the service work by following the Work Flow [1] and [2] below.
3-1.Work Flow [1]
1) Upgrade the machine to the following version or later.
Main Controller: Ver. V34.03 or later
DC Controller: Ver. 23.01 or later
2) After upgrading is completed, change the following service mode setting to 1.
Service mode Level 2 > COPIER > OPTION > IMG-TR > ITB-TYPE
Set "1" for the thin belt (new type belt)
Set "0" for the thick belt (old type belt)
CAUTION:
・ When upgrading from old version to Ver34.05 or later at the site, the value of ITB-TYPE in service mode becomes
"0". Thus, when installing the new type of the ITB, be sure to set "1" manually.
・ When RAM is cleared, the value of ITB-TYPE will be "1" which is for the new type of belt (thin belt). If the old
type of the ITB is used, it is necessary to set "0" manually.
3) Turn OFF and then ON the main power switch.
4) Execute the ITB Edge Profile/Steering Roller Neutral Position Measurement Mode.
Service mode Level 1 > COPIER > FUNCTION > INSTALL > INIT-ITB
5) Execute "Auto Correct Color Mismatch".
User Mode > [Settings/Registration] > [Adjustment/Maintenance] > [Adjust Image Quality] > [Auto
Correct Color Mismatch]
6) Execute the warm-up rotation control forcibly.
Service mode Level 2 > COPIER > FUNCTION > MISC-P > INTR-EX
7) Execute the auto gradation adjustment.
Settings/Registration > Adjustment/Maintenance > Adjust Image Quality > Auto Adjust Gradation >
Full Adjust
8) Print out the half tone image and confirm the leading edge margin.
If it does not meet the standard (4mm (+1.5/-1.0)), adjust the leading edge marging with following
service mode.

Perform Measure 1 to 3 by following the flow indicated above.
<Measure 1>
(1) Display setting of image adjustment-related item in initial settings (user mode).
Change the service mode level 1 (Copier > OPTION > DSPLY-SW>IMGC-ADJ) from 0 to 1 to
display the image adjustment-related item in the initial settings.
(2) Registration of recycled paper settings (custom type). (Decrease of fixing temperature control for
recycled paper)
Select Initial Settings (user mode) > Administrator Mode Login > Preferences > Paper Settings >
Paper Type Settings > Recycled Paper 1 (64 to 90gsm), and press Duplicate to create a new media with
any name.
For the procedure, see page 31.
(3) Registration of custom type paper for deck and cassette.
Select Initial Settings (user mode) > Administrator Mode Login > Preferences > Paper Settings >
Paper Type Settings, and set the paper registered in "(2) Registration of recycled paper settings (custom
type)" to each deck and cassette.

(4) Decrease of fixing temperature control at standby.
Change the service mode level 1 (Copier > OPTION > IMG-FIX > TMP-ST1/ST2) as follow.

Paper Type Settings, and select the paper set in step (2). Then, select "Details/Edit".
Select "Change" in "Secondary Transfer Voltage Adjustment", and change the secondary transfer
current to make optimal images on both the 1st and 2nd side of the paper.
