What is eSIM ?
For more than 25 years the SIM card has been fundamental in the
development of mobile telecommunications.
- First SIM card introduced in 1991 about the size of a credit card and were
designed to store information used to identify and authenticate users .
Then the size of SIM cards was reduced .
- In 1996 mini SIM card was introduced, then micro SIM card in 2003,
after that in 2012 the nano SIM card introduced and got 40x smaller
compared to the full size SIM card .
- eSIM first released in February 2016, which saved %90 space
compared to nano SIM card .
eSIM stands for embedded SIM card which is soldered on
the devices motherboard .
The eSIM is sometimes called an eUICC
