find their way to ensure their safety. most people have resorted to CCTV as a way to secure themselves. many
authors have tried to analyze why many people use CCTV. indeed, Steketee (2012) pointed out that many school
administrators use CCTV to monitor the use of school properties and to discourage students to be engaged in
unethical behaviors. furthermore, this synthesis will analyze the reasons why must administrators, public places,
and people resort to CCTV. in fact, the main usage of CCTV has always been to ensure safety and privacy.
Prior studies have identified that the first reason why CCTV has been implemented is to successfully
provide one's safety. to obscure crimes and other outlaw, acts require a highly attentive security system that is not
present in most countries that force people to use CCTV as an alternative to protect themselves. indeed, Rudinow-
Saetnan, Mork-Lomell, and Wiecek (2004) have pointed out that private and public places have become
safer after the CCTV where implemented. moreover, CCTV owners declare that they were able to detect
crimes and sometimes even to inhibit them from occurring. similarly, "Are security cameras an invasion of
privacy? '(2019) show that surveillance by CCTV in fact help decrease the percentage of auto-theft by 41%.
so CCTV acting as a third eye was a major deterrent for outlaw acts were thief won't be able to enter a
house easily without being detected. furthermore "The Effectiveness of Public Space CCTV "(2009) showed
that even if the CCTV was not working its presence helps people feel more secure.in conclusion safety levels
Although many believe that CCTV invades privacy in public however technology now can ensure safety
without invading privacy. Indeed, Seketee (2012) claims that in order not to invade students privacy, the cameras
may be set without audio recordings in this way administers monitor students behavior in corridors classes and
playground without invading their privacy. Also he added that school should inform students that cameras are
implemented within different areas of it so in this way student have their privacy protected. Similarly, Rudinow-
Saetnan, et al (2004) survey showed that people rarely do private acts in public so presences of CCTV will be
beneficial and provide for them a safer area. also Are security cameras an invasion of privacy? (2019) points
out that the new CCTV setting make it possible to activate the CCTV only in case of motion detection. This setting
also can protect privacy. in conclusion CCTV appropriate use doesn’t necessarily invade privacy.
To sum it up, it is well noticed by now that many authors defend the use of CCTV. CCTV is very
beneficial and it ensure privacy, safety as well as protect ones belonging. Also mackay (2003) suggested that most
camera are found for public satisfaction and to enhance the economy of the country as cited in The Effectiveness of
Public Space CCTV (December 2009). With that stated there is no reason anymore for people not to use these cameras to
protect themselves along with their loved ones and to ensure their belongings and properties are protected as well.
Sadly, some malpractices of CCTV were pointed out by Black (2019) such as using it to “voyeuristically” spy on
others especially if the person in charge of the camera recording is bored. So it depends in on the person in charge
and hi ethics whether he use camera to stalk people or for safety issues .Furthermore, although these extracts have
extensively researched this topic further studies and statistical figures should be provided for the reader in order to
create a better picture about these cameras and how they can be used in beneficial ways only.
