ANTICIPATED PROBLEMS: Students might have difficulties related to vocabulary and


be rather shy when asked to express their opinions. They might not be familiar with the
structure of an article.

ACTIVITY 1 - Warmer and homework check

Aims:-to check the homework, to ensure a nice atmosphere for the class
Procedure: informal conversation, greetings

Some students are asked to read their homework, the teacher corrects it if necessary.

Interaction: T-Ss, Ss-T; individual work

Skills: speaking, reading

Time: 5’

ACTIVITY 2

Aim: to introduce the theme of the lesson

Procedure: The teacher announces the new lesson. She asks the students to answer questions
about magazines and articles on different topics they have recently read and suggest possible
characteristics of a good article.

Interaction: T-Ss, S-T

Skills: speaking

Time: 10’

ACTIVITY 3

Aims: to raise students’ interest and prepare them for the next activity.

Procedure: The teacher asks the students to look back at the list of ideas on page 52, Unit
4(provided by the teacher) and compare those ideas with their own.

Skills: reading, speaking

Time: 5’

ACTIVITY 4-

Aim: to introduce the new material to the students; to encourage students express opinions on
given subjects

Procedure: The students are asked to read the article in the coursebook and see how the
points mentioned were demonstrated in the article. They are asked to choose the best title for
it and find out which of the suggestions in exercise 2 were included in the article.

Interaction: T-Ss, S-T, S-S – pairwork/groupwork

Skills: listening, speaking, reading

Time: 10’
ACTIVITY 5 –

Aims: to check students’ understanding of the new vocabulary

Procedure: The students are asked to guess the meaning of some expressions in the text, then
look for some words and expressions in the text. The exercise is checked.

Interaction: S-T

Time: 5‘

ACTIVITY 6

Aim: to get the students ready for writing the article

Procedure:The teacher asks the students to choose a task and plan their article with their
partner.

Skills: speaking, writing

Time: 10’

ACTIVITY 7– Feedback

Aims: to evaluate students; to assign the homework

Procedure: The teacher grades some students and encourages the others. Students are assigned the
homework. They are asked to write the article they have already planned with their peers.
