1.Fuel Supply Pump Installation


1. Align the No.1 cylinder to compression top dead center.

1. Gear case cover marking


2. 0 degree marking on the crankshaft damper

2. Align the alignment mark to the bracket.

1. Supply pump bracket side slit


2. Alignment mark of the supply pump gear side

3. Align the fuel supply pump to the cylinder block.


Note: Confirm that there are two white paint marks on the gear end surface.

Note: Confirm that the white paint appears through the timing check hole on the top surface
of the flywheel housing.

2.Fuel Leak-Off Pipe Installation


1. Install the fuel leak-off pipe to the cylinder head.
2. Connect the fuel leak-off pipe to the fuel supply pump.
3. Connect the fuel leak-off pipe to the common rail (fuel rail) assembly.
Note: Assemble a new gasket to each connecting section.
Note: Tighten each part, and then secure them with clip.
Tightening torque: 10 N・m { 1.0 kgf・m / 89 lb・in } Fuel supply pump side
Tightening torque: 20 N・m { 2.0 kgf・m / 15 lb・ft } Common rail assembly side

3.Fuel Suction Pipe Installation


1. Install the fuel suction pipe to the fuel supply pump.
Note: Install the fuel suction pipe to the supply pump and fix it with a clip.
Tightening torque: 18 N・m { 1.8 kgf・m / 13 lb・ft }

Note: The following applies to variable nozzle turbocharger specifications

4.Fuel Feed Pipe Installation


1. Install the fuel feed pipe to the common rail (fuel rail) assembly and the fuel supply pump.
Tightening torque: 44 N・m { 4.5 kgf・m / 32 lb・ft } Fuel supply pump side
Tightening torque: 44 N・m { 4.5 kgf・m / 32 lb・ft } Common rail assembly side

Caution: Do not reuse the fuel feed pipe.


Note: The following applies to Euro3 and Euro4 specifications

5.Oil Level Gauge Guide Tube Installation


1. Install the oil level gauge guide tube to the crankcase.
Note: Install the rubber hose of the oil level gauge guide tube.
Note: Insert the hose until it makes complete contact with the second level spool or the
bracket, then secure with the clip.

Note: Install the oil level gauge guide tube bracket.


2. Install the oil level gauge to the oil level gauge guide tube.
Note: Push in until the seal section firmly adheres to the oil level gauge guide tube.

6.Battery Ground Cable Connect


1. Connect the battery ground cable to the battery.
2. Lower the cab.

7.Fuel Air Bleed


1. Loosen the plug using a wrench.

Note: Loosen the air removal plug of the fuel filter.


2. Drain air from the fuel filter assembly.
Note: Operate the priming pump to feed the fuel by pressure.
Note: Confirm that the fuel containing air bubbles comes out from the air removal plug.
3. Tighten the plug using a wrench.
Note: When there are no more air bubbles coming out, tighten the air removal plug.
Tightening torque: 7 N・m { 0.7 kgf・m / 62 lb・in }

4. Supply fuel with the fuel supply pump.


Note: After tightening the plug, operate the priming pump about 150 times until it gets
heavy enough.
Caution: Completely wipe away all fuel nearby.
5. Start the engine.
Caution: Check for fuel leaks.
Note: If the engine does not start, repeat the procedures.

Note: Start the engine and confirm that the check light is not lit.
Note: Reset the fuel filter replacement period of the multi-display on the side of the meter.

8.ECM Writing
Caution: When learning about the supply pump, refer to the following.
1. Connect a scan tool to the DLC.

2. Turn ON the ignition switch.


3. Select the Diagnostics.
4. Select the Engine.
5. Select Special Functions.
Note: Select "Fuel Supply Pump Learn Resetting", and confirm that the engine is stopped.
6. Press the NEXT.
Note: The message "Do you want to perform Fuel Pump Correction Reset?" will be
displayed.
7. Press the YES.
Note: Confirm that "Not Learned" is selected in "Fuel Supply Pump Status" display.
8. Start the engine and put it into an idling state.
Note: Warm up the engine until the data display switches from "Not Learned" to "Learned".
Note: When the data display switches to "Learned", the learning is completed.
Note: After the fuel supply pump learning is completed, start the engine and check whether
a DTC is input using the scan tool.
