"Mother? Where are you?" a little girl called. "Mummy.... Mummy...!

" She
continued to ask the dark hall. "Ho... Where has everyone gone?" She said to
herself out loud. The young girl wandered down the dark hallway, the crimson
moonlight shining through the tall glass paned windows. She stopped to look out
one. "The moon is pretty tonight..." She said in a quiet voice.

The forest around the large mansion was still, not a gust of wind anywhere. The
girl shifted uncomfortably. "No ones here..." She started walking again. As she
walked, she heard a creak in the floorboards. She turned slowly to look behind her,
but nothing was there. She swallowed nervously, and continued walking.

She heard the noise again. Instead of turning around, she walked a little faster. The
creaking continued, and as it did the small girls pace quickened. Fearing the worst
she broke into a run. She reached the end of the hall, and pushed the door open.
Shutting it behind her. "Sister?" A voice sounded. A boy her size walked out from
behind a chair. "Your late, did something happen?" The red light from the moon
shone across him as he spoke.

The girl visibly relaxed. "No, I'm fine. I brought a flower for mother." She said, a
small smile creeping upon her lips. The boy smiled as well.

"Give it to her then" he stepped aside. The girl went up to the front of the chair. A
women in a beautiful maroon suit sat motionless. The girl placed the white flower
on the women's lap, on top of many other flowers, dead roting crumpled ones
gathering dust.

She smiled again "I hope you like it mother." The flower almost glowed amongst
the red and black of the room. The boy and the girl stood side by side looking up at
the women's face.
Something scratched at the door. "Oh sister, you let it follow you?" The boy asked.
"No use, you'll have to take the pill then. Its your turn." He said.

The girl pouted. "Will I get another mark?" She asked, pulling her collar down a
little revealing two small puncture marks on her soft neck.

"No, the same spot will just bleed for a little while." The boy reached into his
pocket and held something out to the girls mouth. "Open wide..." He said. The girl
obediently opened her mouth, and swallowed the object from her brother.

Her eyelids began to feel heavy. "I feel sleepy brother..." She yawned. The
scratching at the door grew louder.

"Say goodnight to mother." The boy told her.

"Goodnight mother... I'll bring you another flower tomorrow..." The girl said as she
looked upon her mothers face. The face of a long dead corpse.
