Practical: Aim Apparatus Required Theory Procedure Observations Calculation Result Precautions

To assemble the components of an electrical circuit, including a voltmeter, ammeter, battery, rheostat, one way key, unknown resistance coil and connecting wires. The components are connected in series as shown in the diagram, with the ammeter measuring current and voltmeter measuring potential difference across the resistor. The switch is also connected in series to complete the circuit assembly. Precautions include cleaning equipment thoroughly before and after testing and wearing protective gear during testing.

Aim

To assemble the components

of a given electrical circuit.
Apparatus

A voltmeter
an ammeter of appropriate range,
a battery,
a rheostat,
one way key.
An unknown resistance or resistance coil,
connecting wires
Diagram
Procedure
Connect the components (Resistors, inductors etc.) in series with each
other as shown in diagram and then in series with the battery.
Connect the ammeter in series with the circuit, to measure the current.
Connect the voltmeter in parallel to the resistor, to measure the
potential difference.
Connect the switch in series with the battery.
Assembly of the electrical components in electric circuit is complete.
Precautions

Clean the apparatus thoroughly before testing

and after testing.
Wear helmet, shoes and hand gloves during the
test.
Weighing should be done very carefully.
