Drilling Rigs Built in U.S. Shipyards

The offshore drilling rig was invented in Texas and, until the early 1970s, almost all the world's rigs were built in U.S. yards.  All that has now changed: of the 327 rigs listed here, only 31 were built in a year beginning with a 2.  With regard to the
accuracy and completeness of this table, it's a little difficult to track the inactive rigs: some may be cold-stacked, others may have been scrapped.  If anyone has any information that would help, please share it with me by sending it to
